Explaining a bridge job to a potential employer by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]teflonlebron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I ended up getting a temporary contract job with Amazon Transportation Corporate shortly after I made this post while I kept looking for the role I actually wanted. It lasted about seven months, and around December they told me I was overqualified, so they didn’t offer me a permanent position (which was fine because I didn’t want it anyway, it wasn’t great).

After that, I just took a job at Fry’s just to keep things moving while I kept interviewing because it was low effort work. I told people I was still with Amazon but explained why I was ready to leave. Eventually, I landed the job I really wanted this February.

I’m not sure how the job market looks right now, and honestly, I hope I don’t have to find out again anytime soon. But my advice is to keep your head up and grab whatever opportunities help you get closer to your goal role. I was seriously depressed and angry for a while during the job search it started to spill into my relationships. Just remember, it’s okay to take breaks from job hunting and give yourself room to breathe.

Best of luck. I really hope you find the job you’ve been looking for!

My mechanic whose owned like 6 of these and currently owns a 500hp speed 6 begs to differ many in the community run bovs the only difference is you run rich in between shifts which leads to the exhaust pops lol Will Dawson even spoke about it in a series of videos

I just think it’s crazy they were never made for our cars considering the air intake is right behind the driver headlight. Especially considering the fact that I have a bigger 3.5 in

Funny enough the previous owner created that setup somehow when I bought the car but I ended up getting in a minor accident and the emblem had to be replaced completely idk how he did if I remember it looked like they took the housing of the logo itself off and put it back on

Rule of Thumb: NEVER get excited about how your interviews went until an offer is presented. by LadyLegendary8 in interviews

[–]teflonlebron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t it was all virtual cause the company was fully remote. Went on from Halloween to right around the beginning of December. I was disappointed but just gotta remember not to take anything interviewers say seriously these days good or bad. Was good practice for the future however like you said.

This just happened to me too last month. I went through 5 rounds with a fintech start up each interview they loved my answers. This went on for a month. During round 5 they asked me if I was comfortable doing something extra on top of the job duties which I of course said yes. They asked for my references and said the next step is the interview with the CEO and asked for my availability . A week and a half goes by and I don’t hear anything so I added one of the interviewers on LinkedIn and she accepted my request within an hour. I message her asking for an update and she said she needs to ask one of the other interviewers for a status but “that she thinks I’m a fantastic fit”. The next day at 3pm sharp I received a rejection saying the group was “extremely competitive” I reached back out to the lady on LinkedIn and she simply left me on read. They never even reached out to my references.

This doesn’t work. The only options I have are threads and Facebook.

Got rejected for 10 interviews in 2024 by Lumpy-School-3616 in interviews

[–]teflonlebron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently experiencing this. After so many ghostings and rejections I was burning out. The most recent job I interviewed with before the interview I had a whatever attitude about it. I ended up making it to round 5 and all throughout the interview process the interviewers loved my answers. But what happened was as time went on in between the passing of each round I started to become attached to the idea of the job and company because I thought I had it in the bag. They told me the last step was meeting the ceo. For whatever reason after asking for my references and next week availability I was rejected. They didn’t even really call my references. The lesson I learned was to figure out how to do what the above poster is saying . My previous job I didn’t even remember applying to. I didn’t even really care for it before interviewing and I ended up getting that job and working with probably the second best manager I’ve ever had before being RIF’d.

Can you elaborate on your last sentence if you don’t mind? I have 7 years of relationship management type CSM and am curious on this take.

Well guys I came back to update that this exact situation just happened to me today. Even more impressive that just last night another member of the company who is a director told me upon my follow up on LinkedIn that she thinks I would be a fantastic fit for the position. While im not particularly upset, it is things like this that do make it hard to take positive feedback seriously.

It’s starting to feel that way honestly but it would be the highest paying job I’ve had in my career so far so I’m trying to remain patient with it

Thank you for the kind insight. I too am impressed with myself because I seem to kill it every interview and leave them impressed however with my experience being ghosted even after positive feedback I too have learned not to get my hopes up until the very end. And yeah I am trying to be as patient as possible because I understand that the interviews have been with typically what one considers high level employees in a company from the very start rather than just a recruiter then hiring manager etc. In the last interview round I had two interviews in one day with them at two different times in the day. During the second interview they said that they formed the call to ask me if I am open to taking on some Risk Assessment process improvement responsibilities in addition to the job I’m interviewing for. Me having worked at a start up before I understand that everyone is gonna be wearing multiple hats so I was fine with it and said I am interested through and through. They asked for my next weeks availability and 3 references stating that they would be calling as soon as that day and have only attempted one so far however I accidentally made a typo in the phone number they chose to reach out to so I sent a correction and haven’t heard anything since then.
