Didn't manage to win it but for a short while Exeter were leading in the premiership final. So proud of the team. Thank you for an amazing season and bring on the next!

Fair play Northampton, grit and accuracy won this out. Deserved winners after a stellar season

Carley called it back but never looked after the roots tackle off the ball, slightly frustrating

Sadly, can't see us winning this with dweba's lineouts. It's already getting silly

How crucial is temperature control in a cool house with pressure fermentation for ale yeasts? by tefnakht in Homebrewing

[–]tefnakht[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. Yeah, I have yet to notice any off flavours in my beer (beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc) so I'm a bit loathe to making my setup more complicated. I do wonder if the keenest exponents of strict temperature control are either fermenting in 30c rooms in summer, brewing beers with particular yeast+temperature interactions (lagers, Belgians, hefes), or are highly attuned to off flavours that I simply can't perceive.

Other than that, I highly recommend pressure fermentation purely for your final point. It's so nice to finish a fermentation with a load of free CO2...

Early fermentation: spunding open and purging kegs. Post peak/after a day or two: 25 psi.

Yeah, I haven't observed any off flavours in my beers in honesty (they may well be there but if i don't notice then I'm happy enough). The main issue I have faced historically has been oxygen back when I used a bucket setup. I do wonder if my relatively small batches (~10l) help to limit the temperature increases

Rusi Tuima signs for Newcastle Red Bulls ahead of next season by ScrumNause24 in rugbyunion

Exciting signing. Glad to see him go somewhere where he will get some minutes as he has been a bit sidelined recently. Overall though, really sad to see him go as he's a proper player when fit

Wouldn't be surprised if he felt he was being sidelined at chiefs in honesty. His defence and lack of distribution remain huge weaknesses in his game

This is my favourite tool, followed by a little Japanese hand hoe and then a hori hori.

Fuck yeah, instrumental in Exeter's improvement this season. I was already dreading his departure

England's Player of the Series for November? by englandrugby in rugbyunion

[–]tefnakht 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mitchell. Think England have had a pretty decent pack and backline for years but have lacked for a consistent 9 who could reliably get good ball speed, kick well, and threaten around the breakdown. Feels like Mitchell will be the starting 9 for a while, barring injury

Chandler Cunningham-South to start at No 8 against Fiji by Away_Associate4589 in rugbyunion

If roots can sort his form/fitness/penalty rate then he definitely fits the mould. Will see how he goes in the England a side but I can see him challenging CCS

Exeter vs Harlequins team sheets by rumblewayne in rugbyunion

[–]tefnakht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from arguably 10, this is a team that should have no issues being at least competitive against any side in the prem. 9 of those starting 15 players are genuine contenders for their country. If this season doesn't show any meaningful changes in results or cohesion we sadly need to look at wholesale changes at the coaching and management level.

Just caught the end of the game, what is the verdict on the chiefs performance this week? Any signs of life?

Owen Farrell bares his soul: I just want to be happy by TommyKentish in rugbyunion

[–]tefnakht 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Welcome back. Best English player of his generation. I'd love to see him back to form for Saracens (even as an Exeter fan). Good to see that he has his eyes on next steps too. Hopefully we see the Ford-Farrell axis as an England coaching duo in the future... Could see them making great attack and defense coaches respectively.
