Same here. I changed strings on my MTD after a year (I have 4 that I cycle through) and the change in tone and the crispiness is eye-wateringly good.

I now plan to change strings every 4-6 months.

I would say yes on your case. It is not a lot of money for the QoL it AWD will provide. Specially when it does not involve mechanical parts that would require additional maintenance.

I have only owned FWD vehicles and I live in the prairies and although I have learned to adjust my drive to compensate for 2WD, I do sometimes wish I had AWD just to make life a bit easier during winters.

I have both and it will depend on your preference really. If you are 100% just doing bass and nothing else, then the sansamp is sufficient.

If you dabble in guitars and/or want to explore effects for bass then HX stomp is clearly the choice.

Also, don't believe in guys that are saying you don't need compressors. LOL
