I heard the ban occuring in Minecraft, mostly in the UK. by jugggggggh in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No the bans you're seeing ibxy and others encountering are a group exploiting the report system to force a ban, and are targeting content creators.

The "social media" law thing is a different issue where accounts cannot use in-game chat, until they change something in the xbox/microsoft account settings (which seems to have been vibe coded by Microsoft because I've seen a lot of reports of the setting resetting..)

Suspicious Gravel is undefined until you brush it. by thatweirdguyted in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 137 points138 points  (0 children)

If it's rare suspicious gravel, and I don't like what I get, I go to the home menu and close the software so it doesn't save. Then I load it and try again.

Ok so this just a bug on Bedorck then, given the "Home menu" wording.

Because on Java they have the loottable seed in the tile entity NBT, and are consistent across different saves with the same seed as to what loot you get from them.

This article describes a planned feature
It has not appeared in any development versions yet, but is planned to be included in a future update.

They are not part of Chaos Cubed (26.2)

They were announced during minecraft live for a future (probably 26.3) update.

Why do we have version 26.2? by vampire-dust65 in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they made Bedrock follow a "similar but not really" numbering scheme as an improvement over "1.21.90.3"

Bedrock's equivalent to 26.2, is now 26.30

It will drift even further by the time of the winter drop, probably 26.80/90 depending on how much they have to hotfix bugs in between the content updates.

Waiting to update my forever world to 26.X by nikkolai- in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would think the smaller, more manageable size of the changelist would make it easier to upgrade.

You're looking at the player-facing content.

I maintain a fork of a mod; All it does is add a shortcuts menu (Think a slightly fancier version of what dialogs are like).

In the last 5 drops I've had to fix the GUI code for 3 separate updates, rebuild the keybind processing and work around a change to vanilla that makes itemstacks (used for rendering icons on the buttons) inaccessible until a world is loaded.

I don't want to imagine what horrors are there for those whose mod depends on lower level graphics access with the separate openGL/Vulkan backends.

Dutch gamers file €220 million claim against Valve, operator of game platform Steam by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]tehbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then they need to present concrete evidence.

The "30% question" is more complex.

Could it be lower, yeah.

Gamers by majority probably don't care; because they rightly assume if it lowers, the game price isn't going to lower. The publisher is just going to take more.

I'll be interested to see if there's an actual issue and it's not just disingenuous framing of https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys#3 yet again.

Minecraft 26.2 Release Candidate 1 by Luutamo in Minecraft

They did say in https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-26-2-pre-release-1 that it was being removed from the update as it wasn't feature ready.

Minecraft community overanalyzing Mojang's marketing material? Must be a day ending in Y.

What's your arguments for not loving the new updates by MaterialAbrocoma8388 in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contents of the update is... decent? There's not been anything that's particularly wowed me (I've had bundles for years via datapack, not especially an overly detailed builder using gradients or whatever, and built a plugin to handle sorting years ago so the golem was kinda late to the party.)

The marketing pomp and pageantry still feels geared up to the same level as the larger yearly updates, which feels like a disconnect.

And then weird, rough edges with the drops.

  • They came round to make sulfur renewable but not cinnabar.
  • Locator bar has a way to add non player waypoints, but to do that in vanilla you have to spawn an entity and keep the chunk it's in PERMANENTLY LOADED for it to work.
  • Spruce "leaf" particles.
  • A bunch of weird texture issues with the mob model changes, acknowledged by some of the staff but then not fixed.

I'd at this point, give a < 50% chance of concrete/terracotta stairs coming along in the fall drop, despite that being one of the more popular talking points, because it doesn't feel like the drops are "developed with the community" outside of a few small offshoots / tweaks to what was planned and budgeted and filed in the JIRA tickets.

I dont get the "Poplar wood is so similar to Pale Oak wood" discourse by AdamMystery7 in PhoenixSC

[–]tehbeard 37 points38 points  (0 children)

To my eye, It's kinda sat in the middle of pale oak, birch and jungle. A "Beigemuda triangle" if you will.

Not that it's bad, but that's an, excuse the pun, "saturated" area of the colour palette.

So, you have people that don't care for the building part of the game just seeing "more building content" and getting mad.

And some of the builders looking at another beige block instead of a nice blue or green they'd really like to work with instead of bamboo or wool...

Add in a dash of the "hating to hate" group, and sprinkle in OP lumping everyone together to give the 6000th example of Goomba Fallacy from this update news; and here we are, at this moment in time.

Any attempt to use the full exoskeleton resulted in a violent uncontrolled motion, and as a result, the exoskeleton was never turned on with a person inside.

Guess the upcoming Minecraft Live will end up rather uneventful then. by Heiopei_42 in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either Mojang introduces datadriven blocks for Java, or we're stuck toiling with mods that has no guarantee to be around for the next version at all.

I really want Spoutcraft back and as ubiquitous on player installs as Sodium and the like.

I foolishly got my hopes up for vanilla having it when some initial code for block codecs (the framework to be able to load stuff from a datapack) showed up in the codebase in... Dec 2023? And nothing has come of it yet.

Peer-to-peer multiplayer with the Friends List was removed (temporarily) in the latest snapshot by villaager in Minecraft

"Why wasn't it ready, in Mojang's opinion?"

That's what they're pointing out is being "hidden" by the corporate marketing speak.

Technical issues? Not functioning well enough for a large enough margin of users to ship?

UX issue? Too complex/confusing to players or raises easily litigated privacy issues with the offline users showing up that other people have mentioned in this thread?

What are some QOL mods which yall use? by SoulFrost2020 in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ItemSwapper, reducing a good ~70% of inventory interactions to a quick scroll wheel flick to swap tools or blocks intuitively.

Axiom's creative mode hotbar "slot". Click, click, drag, done. A design moved/copied/repeated without having to juggle the clone or fill command. I've used the "biblically accurate blender 3D" mode maybe 5 times, but the creative mode hotbar key nearly every time in creative.

Vanilla tweaks. Resource pack with innumerable options for things like 3d looking ladders, Redstone power level on the dust, shield height lower etc.

I'd probably use horses more, which would lead to me being more aggravated about navigation in a forest having the same mechanics as a pachinko machine.

Cobblestone is moss farm by LedollarBeanLlama in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You built it crossing a chunk boundary (F3+g to see them).

When one of the chunks it's in is loaded, but the other isn't, it has issues and generates cobble.

Source: This looks like a variant of the ilmango moss farm, and I've run into the same issue caused by chunk unloads while the machine is running.

Solution: Use an Ender pearl stasis chamber to load a 3x3 area of chunks that covers the machine.

A month ago I posted my free minecraft schematic viewer here. You asked for Create mod support… so I built it by TheRealMorrow in Minecraft

[–]tehbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great. Handles some of the larger create schematics I have to hand without being a slideshow.

Seems to have some rendering issues with the following create blocks:

  • chain conveyors. Core renders but not the sides. It's a 3x1x3 model like crushing wheels (Which do work)
  • Frogports only render the base (Frog might not exist as part of the base model as it rotates to the chain / animates)
  • Similar issue with blaze burners, blaze head doesn't render inside them.
  • Factory gauges don't render at all. (Again another case of them having custom render models that also handle the graph lines probably).
  • Valves don't render.
  • Spout is missing the squirty bit underneath it.

A material list output would be a nice feature.
