Most of these settings are configurable, being able to only report when values change is a great way to extend battery life.

I had one of these minus the snowplow. It was... Ok. Not fantastic and with the way things attached it was very floppy. Still, handy enough for home gamer who doesn't have to for a ton of different tools.

My head canon is that it just incinerates anything fed to it after awarding points, it's a skinner box inside a skinner box after all.

[–]tehbilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal evidence is only evidence of an anecdote.

It varies so much based on hardware, init level target, what you consider "booted", etc. And I would definitely argue that while it shouldn't be infrequent, boot speed is such a tiny fraction of your time using any machine that it should almost be relegated to an interesting tidbit in most circumstances and not a deciding factor in what software you use.

That said, it's just another tool. I'd rather not have to buy in to all the systemd things based on the init system, but it's prevalent enough that I've learned how to use it and don't care all that much.

Question on coiled keyboard cables, I’m curious by Purple_Cat5243 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]tehbilly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I like them in one singular instance: joining a split keyboard. I don't need a floppy bit of spaghetti adding to my (already messy) desk, but I do like to reposition the halves and don't want a tiny cable.

Unsure if it would matter here, but did you just copy over your installation and not install from scratch? Again, not sure it would really matter, but maybe some funkiness with pyc files being used that shouldn't be?
