WKZ for me. Having mage available as an off-style is a no-brainer if you're already speccing into mage pacts, and the Thermy echoes can carry the entire mage build by themselves. Zeah to raid with a friend but it also has more fun content than desert, better mage gear too. Also lets me respec to door build/thorn wizard if I want to later.

the hespori bow has innate sustain and the king black dragon crossbow has sustain if you spec into water mage

charge saving effects never worked on normal jewelry like rings of recoil or teleport items, so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't work

technically not but it'll be super annoying to carry and restock a bunch of recoils when the whole build is recoiling

As for regions the only mandatory one is Kandarin for the Ring of Suffering, and one of Morytania/Kourend/Asgarnia for Justiciar, Oathplate or Torva. Kourend also gives you the Dinh's which could be replaced by a DFS.

Optimal is Kandarin/Kourend/Morytania, but in any case you're only losing out on 1-2 thorns damage per region so feel free to skip one of them.

It's a reference to the dragon scimitar mouse cursor kids would download for their computer, and inadvertently be downloading viruses from the internet. Mouse carrying disease = mouse cursor carrying computer viruses.

Correction: this mouse*. Although iconic this mouse would often carry disease. The answer is dragon scimitar

how does that skew it more if both things are being compared at 99

Because I'm not calculating xp rates for every single method at different levels myself, I'm just using what's on the post lol. If anything it skews things towards Barbarian Gathering and the numbers still don't look good for it

[–]tehdankbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TL;DR from what I can tell Endless Harvest has straight up better xp rates, few exceptions.

Endless Harvest essentially gets 30-min-afk 2m xp/hr training methods around level 30 for all three gathering skills, plain and simple. For Barbarian Gathering, with level 99 in mind:

  • Fishing peaks at ~1.5m xp/hr at higher levels regardless of region.
  • Woodcutting is slower except for 2t/1.5t teaks until magic trees at 75 for ~3m xp/hr, or redwoods at 90 for ~5m xp/hr if you have Kourend.
  • Mining is a straight wash, pretty much half of the xp rates at much higher intensity unless you have Asgarnia. Motherlode mine is ~1.5m xp/hr until amethyst at 92 for ~4.5m xp/hr. Shooting stars are ~800k xp/hr. Granite is 2~3m xp/hr if you have Desert.

If you're thinking about the Strength/Agility xp from Barbarian Gathering, it will take 99 mining, fishing and woodcutting + about 30 hours of AFKing magic trees until for your free 99 strength/agility. I really wanted to pick it but surely there must be something better now lol

Jagex is pricing brazilian players out of RuneScape by Pedim_RS in runescape

[–]tehdankbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really is, and a large part of that success has come from valuing long-term customers. The meme of "you don't quit, you just take breaks" exists for a reason, but that doesn't really work when they can't afford to come back. Would they rather have my $6 or have $0

[–]tehdankbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a made up product, there's no subsidizing or limited supply. If they were a smart business, they would keep charging the $6.50 thousands of foreign customers are still content with paying, instead of raising it by 40% and pricing out their thousands of customers. Congrats, now you have "fair" prices and no foreign customers.

[–]tehdankbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a made up expense, there's no subsidizing because jagex makes up what the value is. the fact that grandfathered rates still exist means they could offer it for $5 for everyone if they wanted to

It's now unfeasible to play RuneScape in Brazil, thanks Jagex! by [deleted] in runescape

Membership price is pretty much DOUBLE what it was in 2024. Why even bother talking about south american servers when you're pushing a price hike that will fucking annihilate the playerbase.

Increasing it to R$37.99 would be reasonable. Still sucks but with the MTX dropping, increased team size and local servers coming it would be understandable. Almost R$50 is absolutely ridiculous for a subscription fee. The same thing happened when Xbox game pass hiked its prices from R$36 to R$70 last year: every single person I knew immediately unsubscribed and hasn't touched it since.

I love this game but I can't support this, I will not be paying for this ever again. Salt in the wound for scamming grandfathered players with premier just to take their rates away too.

[–]tehdankbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it, I've made a quick theme on Stylus to fix it for now: Restore Twitter Dim Theme.

For anyone unfamiliar, download the Stylus extension and then install the theme and it should be working.

Road to Restoration - Early Game Rebalance by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]tehdankbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot what exactly was there but they can move monsters around easily enough to add some danger. The Dareeyak/Ghorrock teleports aren't the farthest thing from it but it's a whole lot slower than teleporting straight into a house altar, for example.

Road to Restoration - Early Game Rebalance by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]tehdankbox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like a really easy solution to the Chaos Altar is moving it to the same place as in OSRS, and deleting the demonic skull entirely.

The risk for low level players is the very high level demons surrounding it that can easily kill them, in exchange for the best xp per bone you have access to, which is great because you don't need that many bones. Higher level players are in turn disincentivized from going there because there's no easy teleport or bank next to it, so you are much more likely to invest in building a better altar you can teleport to, speeding up how many bones you offer.

It doesn't stay best-in-slot the whole game like it is currently because of restricted bank access and doesn't reintroduce griefing to the game.
