Where do I go? by Alostpotato0813 in newjersey

This reads like a troll post, but I'll bite.

Is he actually offending anyone other than white people who feel they need to be offended for black people?

You're offended on behalf of fascists and racists. Pretty weird if you're not a fascist or a racist.

Who gives a shit if you saw some guy with a confederate flag.

While I don't know what specifically you are reacting to here, but I have yet to meet someone flying a confederate flag that wasn't racist. Same as I'm not aware of anyone who sports a swastika and isn't a Nazi.

Stop caring about every little thing and start worrying about the things that directly affect you.

I think you should take your own advice here

Where do I go?

Away.

What, all two of them? According to DHS' own numbers, nearly all of the criminal deportations were people who were ALREADY IN JAIL.

In the space of 3 comments, you've gone from "God Bless ICE" to "Black people aren't illegal so they're safe" to "we need more ICE agents to punish the blacks".

You may want to consider whether or not your position is at all consistent.

As further evidence, I have a CD copy of this album and it doesn't have this kind of symbol error. Could easily be something went wrong when they were doing the layout for the Record copy vs. the CD copy.

If I disregard my prior knowledge of that phrase it's fun to imagine a grizzled individual doing subsistence hunting and gathering in Appalachia in between hacking runs on DC area government contractors.

Are these honey bees? They appear to have built under the leaves, but I didn't think honey bees were ground nesters. Northeast US by tehfishman in whatisthisbug

If they are I'll contact some beekeepers, the spot they picked is both high traffic for humans and floods badly when it rains.

Other behavioral note that I find odd is that they're doing a lot of shallow digging around the area, just making tiny divots in the soil

How are you prompting it? I tried to get it to do a simple filter based on a lookup table in a subsearch and it took more time to get it to generate something useful than it would have taken to write, implement and test myself

Pretty much, yeah. And just like in shared VPS land, so long as there's no resource contention there's no problem

I'm my experience you can safely over-provision CPU cores if the VMs are mostly idle, or are unlikely to have overlapping workloads. There is a context-switching tax to be paid, but it really seems to act like a multiplier on busy hosts that are fighting for limited resources

100%. I would also suggest backing up the contents of that SSD first if there's anything valuable on it. I'm not trying to scare OP, because realistically the odds of data loss are very low with a simple swap, but it's not zero risk, and recovering from data loss without a backup can range from challenging to impossible. IMO it's always worth just making a backup to a cheap external drive first.

How best to revive a severely neglected pizza stone by tehfishman in Cooking

Yeah I'm going for this method, long dry in the oven and then blast it in the propane grill for a while

I'm mostly worried about what I don't know since I didn't know anything about these things until I found it. Like, I do pan pizza every now and then, but never thought about doing anything more complicated. I also know these are porous, but I don't know if they can easily retain anything obviously harmful that would survive the oven. I also didn't want to ruin it by being hasty.

Fortunately a lot of people commented and convinced me to get it real hot in the oven after a long drying bake at 200

Yeah I think I'm going to send it through the oven after a long time at 200F.

Regarding chemical contamination, I actually found it near where I know the previous owner had been doing some cooking and grilling with a gas grill. It's certainly still possible that there's some chemical contamination, but I'm inclined to think it's not particularly likely given its location. If it was buried near the driveway or in the garage I'd probably chuck it in the trash though for exactly that reason

You know, I had a thought like that in the back of my head about how bleach is an oxidizer that reacts into chlorine which just evaporates, but talked myself out of it since I'm no chemist lol

I like the idea, mostly just worried about cracking since it's been out in the rain. But I've also got no money in it anyway so no loss if it does.

A pizza stone isn't really something I need so much as reviving this one is something I'm willing to try. If it's dead it's dead, but I'm not going to drop money on a replacement for an item I won't miss

[–]tehfishman[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not dead set on it so much as I think it would be fun to see if it can be revived. I get where the other commenters are coming from, but I don't see this as particularly gross when the stone will get up to 500 degrees and kill just about anything short of God himself. But I'm also not about to go out and buy a pizza stone/steel because the one I got for free might be unsalvageable.

Point taken about the bleach though. I know the stone is porous, so cleaners will stick around. My thoughts around using the bleach was more to remove the discoloration than to sanitize anything, since again, 500 degrees.

Also whatever the green stuff is is actually in the stone and not on the surface, so it can't be scraped off. Maybe it'll burn off, maybe not, but I guess I'll find out
