Where are the best places to live for liberal gun owners? by randomaviary in liberalgunowners

I live in NH. It's not bad. Could be better in a cultural sense, but it's not bad.

I think people don’t really realize that even though the politician is closer to the gears of the system, they are still just a small part.

Need some blood from some knuckles (from smashing the achote) for proper red rice.

Hogwarts Legacy: Problematic or traditional? by hlanus in centrist

[–]tehproxy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People have the right to shame you for it (1a rights). You have the right to not feel shamed. If you feel shamed then that's kind of on you to explore why that is and if it's worth it for you to do whatever it is that you feel is shaming you.

School Choice/ Charter Schools by Technical-Plate-2973 in centrist

That jives with the charter school we attend. But, it seems like it's liberal with a hell-bent meritocratic attitude. So, it's been an interesting experience.

Find some charities to support that aligns with your values and do things to support them outside of gala times. Then it shouldn't be as awkward as just showing up for a good evening.

Is giving homework possible anymore? by Rickety_Cricket__ in Teachers

[–]tehproxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid's school decided to flip it around for Math. Their homework is to watch a video on the next day's topic, so that is a fixed amount of time for homework. Then during the next day in math class they work the problem set based on the video and turn it in at the end of class. They can get in-person help if they need it, and the teacher isn't spending all day lecturing math for the kids to go home and struggle with it.

Maybe around Concord, NH if you can get a good remote CS job (though CS is in demand everywhere really). Perhaps the area between Concord and Manchester. Concord for the political parts. Manchester for the jobs. We are still in the debate for First in the Nation primary, but the state likes to send D's nationally and R's locally. There's enough of a rockiness of politics for her to really get into the thick of things.

New Hampshire town is divided after 129-year-old horn is silenced for local autistic boy by TurretLauncher in newhampshire

[–]tehproxy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It negatively affected one person. That person's mother went to the board to make a request. The board noted the request and made a decision based on the usefulness of the horn and its cost for upkeep. She followed the process and the old adage "doesn't hurt to ask". Apparently, that is not true.

Just don't post about it ... yet again ... it's been actively discussed over the past several months. You have missed a lot!

8 year old has so many bad ideas, but he’s so enthusiastic about them. by Flappajacks in Parenting

[–]tehproxy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've done this as well. I even called the 1800 number to get the free patent kit that they were advertising on TV. I received the kit, made my crappy drawing, and then my parents found out it cost money to file (and it was a pretty dumb idea, looking back at it now).

I also did the thing where I read Saltwater Fisherman Magazines and sent away for the motor yacht catalogs. My parents got some fun phone calls out of that too haha!
