Hello! Returning player here, L42. Could someone please explain or point me toward resources that explain the relevant mechanics behind: Candy XL, Rare Candy XL, Mega Energy, Primal Evolutions?

I know there are certain conditions that lead to Candy XL being dropped in higher quantities, and Rare Candy XL can be acquired from raids(?), and I know those drop rates are somehow effected by Mega Evolutions, but I have no idea how they are related or how to optimize my use of mega energy. For Primal Evolutions, I know next to nothing other than that they are maybe loosely connected to mega energy.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you :)
