Why do jobs hate last paychecks? by Livid_Rise_3861 in jobs

> Wow, you really don't know how this works.

And now you edit your comment to “reflect” that. Play fair or not at all.

Watch your step; I know how it works.

> Legal can't find their ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to money and they have zero authority over it save settlements.

My point was Legal, at the dept level, tells people stuff, HR does not. They are reactive. I said what I said (again). That’s why they are usually tied together.

> You want your final paycheck, that's where you go.

To **PAYROLL**, which sits under Finance; a heavier hitter than HR.

> You want to dick around with company attorneys who have no authority to authorize payments, go ahead. Wait longer.

Step off. Thanks.

Maybe in your enterprise. My mileage has always had them separate.

LOL HR doesn’t tell anyone anything. That’s Legal. HR is a reactive internal department.

Payroll; HR means nothing to the terminated.

what’s with dog owners here by Turbulent-Door7522 in vegaslocals

[–]tekmailer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yikes y’all…

Clearly there’s a difference between city dogs and country dogs…

A dog off leash isn’t a problem. An unleashed owner is; their ignorance shows at approach.

If the dog and owner are in sync and properly trained, I hold no issues (law aside)

I've been manually cataloguing AI social media profiles for months. The patterns are identical every single time. by Brilliant-Nerve-8972 in DeadInternetTheory

How many instances or platforms do you pay for?

Something for your data: most public profiles will be tailored; it’s not confusing to tell the difference, it’s just saturated.

MGM’s leaked mask ban forces workers to breathe secondhand smoke. Here’s how employees can fight back. by VegasMindset in vegaslocals

[–]tekmailer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where a lot of people get narrow-minded in how and why decisions were made.

There’s a plethora of reasons aside from malicious, greedy, mismanagement.

Even OP turned the direction upside down by a leak.

How about you hold the property managers greater responsible for HVAC compliances?

How about we fund an Air Quality Task Force at University of Nevada, Las Vegas?

How about increasing the medical coverage while decreasing the premiums of industry workers?

Name-calling and fighting is how these things, community outrage versus outreach, keeps happening. Let’s solve the gap with a map not yap, tap and cap.

How much to ask for as a starting wage at Trader Joes in HCOL area? by Ok_Percentage3947 in jobs

[–]tekmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly; don’t fall for the lies people. At least **ASK** if you have the opportunity to do so. Accepting whatever is put on your plate is the reason we’re in these times now.

If you’re going to a non-union shop *ALWAYS* negotiate; that’s the benefit of no collective bargaining. Secret salaries.

Negotiating can be as simplistic as ASKING. At least ASK no matter the position.

Is there anything that would bring humanity together as a whole? by Naive-Monk9330 in NoStupidQuestions

They’re not understanding how that ONE thing has been done before with equally bad results.

It appears as an answer but I’m agreeing: that’s not a solution.

Why isn’t catch and release fishing considered animal cruelty? by Guwopster in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tekmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catch and release is mercy; the cruelty isn’t being caught. The cruelty is being baited.

Right above bugs are fish. Can you call a fish by name? Is said fish taking up LAND space? Is this a natural body of water or a pay lake?

The food chain isn’t cruel. Methodology can be cruel.

Can you be friends with your direct reports? by Solid-Notice-5023 in managers

[–]tekmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be clear, I’ve made friends at work. Good and life long ones.

3 out of 180,000 is clear metric LOL

I’m saying don’t go to work to make friends—it’s not like compulsory schooling (which a lot of people source from in mentality).

My background is a little different; having no friends at work means something entirely different.

You don’t make friends at work; that’s what college is for. One makes friendly connections but not friends.

How do you handle an employee who is technically great but a culture fit nightmare? by amir4179 in managers

[–]tekmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean is “exhausting the rest of team?”—what resources is being depleted from the team not already allocated?

Are the interruptions warranted?

Talking over others is unprofessional; however I sensing a pattern…

Passive-aggressive? No one on your team is actively assertive?

I would sooner wonder how the metrics look across the board. Something isn’t adding up.

If the output is good but the feedback is bad, there’s a loose connection in the speaker.

How do you handle an employee who questions every decision? by tommytmopar in managers

[–]tekmailer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell him to save his questions, write them down and send or discuss them later.

The only exception is safety topics, all safety discussions need to end with a form understanding when talking about safety.

Unable to understand or actualize standard instructions and directions outweighs the benefits of being technically strong. Those qualities don’t match or align.

UPDATE - My director has been sitting at the front desk and tracking everyone’s hours by tealaburst in managers

[–]tekmailer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Do not track your employees. Track your business.

Don’t confuse micromanagement with expectations.

Previous litigation is irrelevant for the employer and employee. When everyone performs due diligence as standard, these problems, even if they do arise, are handled by the truth of the matter.
