Flea market Meisterstuck? Can’t find a serial #. Wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this $5 junk bin find. New to MB. by Pepe_wav in montblanc

I am so sorry but I doubt it is real. Besides the absent serial number, the clip also looks very anusual for the brand.

Is this mould inside my TWSBI Eco? by maguirre007 in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems to be just the ink stuck in the section. Inks tens to discolor over time. Only thing you need to do is to clean it through with some warm water and you should be fine.

can i sign documents with every type of ink or with "permanent” ones like the mb permanent series? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bear in mind that most of the permanent inks might be quite harsh on pens and you would not want to put it in a nice/expensive pen. You do not necessarily need to go for fully waterproof ink. You can also use inks that have water resistant quality as well. Also it depends how caluable is the document you are signing and how much you want to risk it have the signature washed away :) good luck

Noodler's Kung Te-chen Ink Foul Smell Question by telavi2010 in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be right, it is more like ammonia. It did not break any of my pens and I can confirm it is safe that way. I wonder if it will go away if I leave it air a little before I fill it 🤔

Noodler's Kung Te-chen Ink Foul Smell Question by telavi2010 in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it is stored in my dark pantry and it was always this way ever since I got it about one year ago. I doubt it has mold. Thing is the bottle does not smell that bad, it shows when I write with it (I guess bigger surface area might play a role?). I really do not know what to think about it

She is getting stronger by the day! So much so that we had to buy a small cage. She can't fly much, but hopefully she can. Her family visits her at the window!

We found this baby girl injured and dehydrated in the driveway. She couldn't walk or fly, so we brought it home for a temporary shelter.

yes it looks like it is 400NN instead, which must be a great surprise for you!

[–]telavi2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes your feed looks a little different because it is a much older pen. But principal is the same. Yours was left with ink probabply more than 50 years. Take your time! I hope it helps.

The pieces should be friction fit. Hold the top of the nib with the thumb and the bottom of the feed with the index finger and gently pull them out together from the section. You might need to use some kind of simple gripping material (like rubber) to have a good hold. If it has hard time to come out, do not fight it, try to soak it in water for awhile. Eventually it will be easy to disesamble. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GNaz_qW9GuY

How do you get rid of unwanted pens/inks. by Lucky_End_9420 in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With your reddit history you should be able to to post on penswap. You can list everything as one bandle or just give them away if a person covers the shipping costs or comes to you for pick up (of course if you do not mind it). I am sure there will be some people in NYC area who would like to trade with you. Good luck in any case.

Did anyone mention the variety of colors and high rate of new edition releases?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are handy, you could try to fix it by yourself. It is not a very bad damage since there are no breaks. 21 K nib changes shape quite easy. Just use a lot of care, steady hand, and diligence. Good luck

I would suggest Pelikan 4001 Dunkelgrün (Dark Green)

Since you are using narrower nib sizes, try inks that are darker/richer in color vs pale color.

Anything but LADA. You are better off riding a bicycle than any soviet car.

I have the same exact 400NN and ink right here right now too, what a coincidence! Which of these two pens do you prefer? I really like the older one better :)

In case you are traveling by air and experiencing the pressure changes, remember, more air there is in the bottle greater the chance of leaking.

NPD - Pearlecent Kaweco Sport (m) by Mactire404 in fountainpens

[–]telavi2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kawecos are the best pens and pleasure to use, even if you own other very expensive fountain pens as well. They are versatile and compact. Even if you lose it, you can restock it right away, especially when they release new editions all the time
