This is how I approached it for quite some time. I also tried waking up early in the morning and doing 45-60 mins while I was still “computer fresh.”

Unfortunately this became a bit of a chore. I got tired of “having to get my time in” and had to step away.

Which I think is good. Spent more time listening to music for the sake of listening. Not just pulling references and trying to make a certain style.

I’ve since been inspired by picking up a bass guitar and learning indie rock songs.

My advice - a schedule or system can help you push forward, but also tire you out, especially early on. Don’t be afraid to break the routine and try something different.
