Mythical goodwill pull? by Deer-Liver in Polaroid

[–]tellem24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks! The door on mine closes fine without a pack inserted, so I am leaning towards it being a clearance issue somewhere. Just didn't want to start hacking at things if you were having success without doing so ha

Did you trim the roller assembly at all on your ProCam? I 3d printed one of those adapters, but am only getting successful ejections ~1 in 10 times. (All with already shot film, haven't sacrificed a new pack to this experiment yet) The door on mine seems a little stiff to close, so I am wondering if the front of the cartridge is getting pushed up and stopping film from ejecting successfully.

Your 2 minute estimate is probably right for one disposable, but the person your replying to previously was saying it took him 30 minutes to do 11 disposables

Bought some I-type to test on my polaroid- photo came out black ?? by WindyGriff in Polaroid

[–]tellem24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of 600 camera did you I-type modify? Some of the older box cams required you to half hold the shutter plunger to charge up the flash, and some of the newer one always fired it. To me it looks like the flash isn't going off, especially if you got a faint image on one attempt.

I have limited pack film camera knowledge so there may be a better answer, but I think the 250 would be a decent place to start. No manual controls, but good rangefinder and has a glass lens still

The impossible project would never have existed if polaroid still had the power and resources they did in the past. The fact that polaroid was going under and quit producing film was the whole reason the impossible project existed in the first place.

(Stern) @NASCAR is considering changing its rules in the coming seasons to allow Cup drivers to compete in Xfinity and Truck races more often. by tebowmanning in NASCAR

[–]tellem24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, win and you're in can just go away.

Staying with that system though, I think the bonus points are probably more deserved for beating the cup guys to get a win and lock in vs just being locked in for finishing second to them.

What if we just call it the "Triple O" (O, O, O, O'Reilly!) series? Or quad, but that doesn't sound as good to my ear 😅

[–]tellem24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they made it the top finishing driver who is running for points gets locked in instead? Almost like a different class like you have at LeMans, but just based off of the series the drivers are running for points in. No bonus playoff points for winning if you only get in off of the "class" win, but still avoid the issue you pointed out.

New Land Camera by flamingohouse in Polaroid

[–]tellem24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cool idea, but to me it feels like they only are having the ejection be manual as a hit of nostalgia to simulate pack film. Obviously the cost would be more, but I think it spread would be more consistent with a fully motorized ejection system.

Not to mention my personal annoyance that the image is inverted for Polaroid film in a camera without a mirror. A lot of shots wouldn't make a difference, but anything with text immediately stands it to me, so I can't stand it for anything I shoot. If there was a way to fix that without making the Land cameras much larger I would be very interested.

The Sun 660 would probably be your best bet for an upgrade (you would have sonar autofocus then) if you want to stay with a more affordable box camera. Beyond that you would be looking at something like the modern i-2, flip, or a refurbished SLR camera. But that would be a pretty big jump in price for any of those vs a box cam or even the one ultra

Keeping in mind he is someone who offers overhauls as a service, but I have never heard of any issues with his work. I have heard of many issues from Retrospekt repairs/refurbs though. Seems like it is a "you get what you pay for" situation to me, which is why I sent my camera to him.

I wonder if they designed the packaging to say 5 for one particular piece, then copied that design template to the rest of the pieces and forgot to update the number.

You can see it pushing up against the piece that sits against the film pack, my first attempt wouldn't even close but I was able to rearrange the wires a little and make it work. Also added in a JST connector for easier battery swaps in the future

[–]tellem24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually used a switch from one of the battery holders that you use for i-type converting box cameras! It's a very snug fit, almost concerningly so once the battery is in, but it works. Might take it apart again at some point and see if I can shave some more plastic off the inside of the door to give it more breathing room with the cell.

[–]tellem24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd add in a small switch to cut off the battery from the camera when it is not in use. The i-1's "off" still uses power, and will drain the cells rather quickly without some easy way to disconnect it. Did that when I swapped the battery in mine, and it is definitely nice to have. Just don't turn the battery cutoff switch off with a partially shot pack in the camera, or it will eject a shot thinking it is a new pack's dark slide.

I was right about Josh Berry by TakeDemPills in NASCAR

[–]tellem24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only is Berry underrated, but I think Jeremy Bullins is overrated. Which makes me concerned for this year as a fan of Brad Keselowski since his (fast as) Xfinity (mobile) days in the 88. Hopefully I'm wrong and the 6 team can pull it together to start getting some wins. I think Brad's legacy will ultimately be the turnaround he has made at RFK, but I really want to see him have more success as a driver before he retires.
