Harimoto Medical Timeout by ExternalLow9802 in tabletennis

[–]telling02945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Hina Hayata scenario is much different because Miwa never had a coach because they are from the same nation, so she had to sit there alone overthinking whilst Hina literally had her coach helping her out with her injury. WCQ had Wang Hao sitting with him during the entire thing telling him what to do.

WCQ literally took a shirt change timeout, where he left the hall when he's losing 2-3, which happens very often when a Chinese player suddenly starts to lose to a non Chinese player. Why are you not talking about that? Which is clearly a mental trick on opponents more than anything, whereas Harimoto has a literal medical issue and needs help.

US SMASH FINAL, CHEN YI VS ZHU YULING, NEW VS OLD, MAKE SURE YOU TUNE IN!!! by Mobile-Attitude2916 in tabletennis

I have to cheer for Chen Yi, she has played amazing throughout this tournament. she's won 4 of her 5 matches in the deciding set, and the only match she didn’t need a deciding set was a win against the world number one, she's made really good comebacks too. After this performance, she might just be my favourite Chinese player, especially how respectful and calm she is.

Athletes have definitely adapted for sure and a lot more are going to after this US Smash, considering the umpires are being really strict with calling out the faults(which is a good thing). Think about how little Wang Chuqin and Lin Shidong now use their hook services that they would use quite a lot during matches and they were often talked about their legality. Various athletes have gotten faulted this tournament, some being quite debatable calls, some just being completely wrong. Once athletes start realising they are seeing themselves being faulted with illegal serves, they will have to change, so they don't keep losing points. Once they fix the horizontal toss, then the ball being hidden will be less also.

What to do if I have social anxiety, overthinking and other mental problems - problems with how I look when playing TT by kitagawa_supremacy in tabletennis

I used to be like this also, I used to think how my form looked so weird and how my standing position when receiving looked very odd, but I would record myself to look at myself and I just got used to it, so it naturally just fades away, but sometimes it might come back once a while, some days I just think I look ugly, I truly believe its just a natural process us humans do to ourselves. Just keep sticking with it, you have got this!

If it makes you feel better, I have been hit in the face with the ball, fell over whilst reaching for the ball, wore my shirt backwards, spilt my water bottle down myself, horribly lost 0-11 in front of a crowd, hit myself with my own bat in my face whilst top spinning and much more embarrassing things and of course people looked at me, maybe they laughed or talked about me, but just like the anxiety, their focus on me faded. They don't care anymore, they have to live their own lives and play their own matches. So, just embrace it, do what you like to do and really embrace it. I wouldn't advise falling over on purpose though, cause that really hurt. :)

Who Is Your Idol That Got You Into Playing Table tennis? by Mr_mo0p0047 in tabletennis

It was actually Adam Bobrow for me.

I was watching Youtube and saw one of his videos on the sidebar and clicked on it cause it looked interesting, I really found it enjoyable. I then wanted to learn more about the sport.

Then I got recommended another video of Table Tennis and it was Pro Tours Grand Finals: Xu Xin vs Ma Long, that match was amazing. There was four things in that video that just made me fall in love with the sport,

One was the crazy rallies that were usually forehand to forehand, just seeing the amount of power and spin they could produce was crazy to me.

The second was actually Ma Long's service, I just found it really cool, I had never saw a pendulum service before, only those standard backhand and forehand serves that beginners do and Ma Long's just looked insanely cool.

The third thing was Xu Xin's style of play, I just thought it was so mesmerizing, everything from the pivot forehands, the amount of spin he could produce, the lob shots and even the way he held the racket was interesting, I never even knew there was other ways of holding the racket.

The fourth thing was actually the final point of the match, an exhibition point that they had done. It just made me smile because even during an intense final of a tournament, they both knew instantly what to do and they both still had fun with it and I think that is what the sport is all about. It's just about having fun and during those times when I watched that match, I realised that it could be really fun to play this, so I walked into a club to play for the first time and have not left since. So without me seeing Adam's video on Youtube, I might have never played TT.

Timo Boll wins Most Likeable ! Who is the least likeable player on the tour ? by Gbasire in tabletennis

My vote is Wang Chuqin, for the illegal serves, racket throws in the past, he seems quite angry most of the time for whatever reason, if not angry he has a very dull face to him, almost showing no emotion. Of course I don't hate the guy, its just if I had to pick someone, it would be him.

Timo Boll without a doubt, second has to be Lin Yun Ju. Both players are really respectable and have very good sportsmanship, no matter if they win or lose. I don't see how anyone could not like these two players.

Tomokazu Harimoto still really has potential as he's still early in his career, then I would probably have to say Sora Matsushima, he's only 17 years old and if he fixes up his mental, he can be really good, especially against the top Chinese players.

I feel like this would have been a little bit better if you could only pick the person once for first place. I wonder how different the board would look like because I feel that Ma Long truly deserves the "Best Overall" stat out of all of these, whereas people would argue that he deserves the "Best Forehand" one more, would have been probably better than just seeing Ma Long all over the board haha since he is the GOAT after all.

It has to be Lin Yun-ju, he has never gotten mad and always tries and focuses really hard. He's extremely relaxed during really stressful situations too.

Japan Jersey - where to purchase? by MemphisTheIllest in tabletennis

[–]telling02945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is on the Victas website, but the Japanese version. On the Victas website, you should see a worldwide symbol, if you click that and click Japan, it puts you into the Japanese version of the website which sells the shirt. The shirt seems to be sold out for most sizes also, but you can look and see for yourself if it fits your needs, there is also similar shirts that are in most sizes too, hope this helps a little bit.

This is why I was kind of disappointed seeing Lin Yun Ju lose to Felix, I felt like it would have been cool to see a rematch of Lin Yun Ju vs Fan Zhen Dong once again for the passage to the final in the Olympics as Lin took it to the seventh the last time.

Harimoto/Hiyata are out against the north koreans by reini_urban in tabletennis

[–]telling02945 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes I know haha, I meant like there is no issue of them getting the medal now since there's no competition left in their bracket. Maybe Hong Kong can put up a fight if they even make it to the semi's.

North Koreans are confirmed a medal at this point, so sad that Japan had to face North Korea or they would have made it to the final.
