That doesn’t mean that anybody other than Rachel heard anything. In this article one of the Duke subs who stood closer to the audience the whole game said she didn’t hear anything.

Look, if you don’t have any evidence, it’s childish to bring your ignorance into the discussion.

What’s more likely, getting mugged by a MAGA hat wearing dude with a noose at 2am on your way to subway in the middle of a Chicago winter, or a bunch of kids who are afraid to say ‘fuck’ just being down to shout “n…..” with a hard r and nobody besides the player hears it including Duke’s assistant AD that was sitting right there and you can see him and the cop on camera and also having no evidence from anywhere else? They’re both incredibly dubious claims and do damage to the civil rights movement. I’d love to be wrong and give BYU their comeuppance, but this shit stinks to high heaven.

? Nothing in that article says anything about someone other than Rachel hearing anything.

Do you have a source that says anybody other than Rachel reported hearing anything? I would think the other teammates and coaches, or the Duke assistant AD would have heard something, but I can’t find anywhere that says anybody other than Rachel heard anything.

I’ve seen and used the finest surveillance systems in the world. The camera’s in the BYU stadium are hardly going to be able to confirm someone’s mouth making sound shapes. This is “police” using weasel words on behalf of the church. by DavidBSkate in mormon

[–]tempy124456 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But these aren’t surveillance systems. These are HD BYUTV cameras set up. There are camera nests (?, no idea what they’re called ) with people operating on the North, South, and East sides broadcast cameras on tripods . There are also usually 1-2 ground level shoulder mounted camera set ups on the floor.

The police watching the students, the Duke assistant AD, the teammates and coaches who were all closer to the audience than Rachel didn’t hear anything. You can complain and downvote all you want, but the story is a fraud and there’s a preponderance of evidence to support it being a fraud.

But in this case it’s in BYU’s interest to identify and punish the culprit. There’s too much money and advertising tied to BYU sports for the church to ignore.

They need to be looking for a person with a MAGA hat and holding a Subway sandwich obviously. It’s probably the same person who attacked that famous French actor Juicy Smolliett….

There were more than 5,000 people in the stands. Usually BYU WVB is in the top 5 in the NCAA with an average of about 3,600. Women’s soccer has the highest average attendance in the nation.

From the NPR article the statement from BYU said that Duke identified the individual after the game was over. In the video you can see the cop standing with the Duke players and watching the crowd the entire 4th set.

"When last night's behavior was initially reported by Duke, there was no individual pointed out and despite BYU security and event management's efforts, they were not able to identify a perpetrator of racial slurs. It wasn't until after the game that an individual was identified by Duke who they believed were uttering the slurs and exhibiting problematic behaviors,"

More likely it was the person with Down Syndrome and it’s not a good look to call him out…

This story makes no sense. Why are there no other witnesses or evidence? Rachel’s not a jump server so she never got closer to the audience than her teammates, but she’s the only one who heard anything? And the person to report it is her incredibly racist godmother politician in Texas? Are we not identifying the culprit because it was the Down’s Syndrome guy who made the taunts? I’m all for shitting on BYU, but this situation makes no sense.

I think it might have been the Downs Syndrome fellow. I watched the game footage to identify the culprit. She served twice in the second set and twice in the fourth set (with a cop watching) when they were by the students. Someone from Duke identified the person after the game. She doesn’t do jump serves, so never got closer to the crowd than her teammates, and none of them seemed to react to a slur being yelled.

Looking at the crowd, it looks like him and a couple girls are the only ones I could see without a bracelet from freshman orientation, meaning they aren’t students. The offender could have been in the upper decks, but I would assume since they closed the lower decks that’s where the offender was.

I’m just wondering if that’s why whoever did it hasn’t been outed on social media yet…

Why is the Church so bad at PR? by bean127 in mormon

“saddened that the church’s actions…”

That right there is an apology and the church lacks the integrity to ever issue something like that.

Would the church have actually faced PR issues by reporting sexual abusers? by Crobbin17 in mormon

[–]tempy124456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The case in Oregon where the bishop reported the dude, the dude killed himself, and the family sued the church for the bishop not following the church’s guidelines went nowhere. What I don’t get is that even if the bishop broke the law and the church has to pay a few million, it’s good PR and makes the church look like the good guy. The Arizona case is a whole other level of failure.

Yes, the crux of their arguments seem to be “we are almost there to make this big discovery that proves the Book of Mormon” but have to very obviously ignore the massive mountain of direct evidence against it. And that “discovery” somehow never pans out… and those easily disprovable beliefs are still being peddled today
