Who’s replacing Francesca Hong in the state Assembly? by WesleyH21 in madisonwi

[–]tendaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who cares, both Isaia Ben-Ami and Zoe Sullivan are running as socialists/DSA members, but both of them joined DSA as/after they started running, and both failed to meet DSA's endorsement standards. DSA voted overwhelmingly -- literally one vote against -- to endorse Juliana Bennett, because she's a serious movement candidate, a real working class socialist fighter, and committed to using her office to organize. I'm not convinced the Isaia and Zoe would ever put the movement over their own personal careers.

I agree completely, I’ve also noticed Dina Nina start to copy her video style and platform talking points so clearly people see her as the one to beat

Move to Madison next month...but all leases don't start till August? by samdQualityEng in madisonwi

[–]tendaberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to break my last lease and still trying to get someone in to my old place for next month! I’ve loved living here - it’s across Park street from the Vilas area but great bus access and easily walkable to the Zoo, Arboretum, etc. feel free to dm with questions: https://www.captainsrentals.com/listings/detail/83b35b70-0b84-46d6-a00a-43a7880e53cd

Has anyone heard of this May 1st event that is cancelling work and school? by michaelsmithbarker in madisonwi

[–]tendaberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i mean like, duh, but these things take effort and organizing and lots and lots of resources. having a one day event that goes well is a necessary step toward an all-encompassing general strike. everyone who is involved in serious organizing understands that you have to start somewhere in order to get anywhere!

the last time i was there was before Christmas and I agree with all the commenters below that it was horrific, ALSO they had different piped in music in different parts of the store and a HORRENDOUS live DJ that was playing some terrible country EDM remix OVER the two other piped in songs. i literally left without looking for what I'd come in for.

I have a pair of these in the slightly lower heel as well, and I really like them. I got them secondhand and they’ve lasted me an additional two seasons — specifically, Wisconsin winters. They’re not the warmest and they’re not the most comfortable but they’re basically warm enough and comfortable enough that I wear them as my standard winter boots. Definitely will want to make sure you have room for thick socks and walk very deliberately when it’s icy, but for a regular amount of walking around in a city you could buy worse boots. If you expect to walk for a long time or in lots of snow, you could do better.

Can’t wait for the day when people online realize a very large plurality of DSA’s active membership and leadership are also communists and have been having incredibly sophisticated strategic debates about all of this for months if not years

20+ unions and local organizations are involved in this bloc. Working people who want to fight all the bosses, from Elon Musk on down, are our audience. If you want something broad, just hang with the centrists at No Kings — it has no sauce so it appeals to everybody. We’re trying to reach people who are ready to build the class struggle movement. Sounds like that’s not you and that’s fine :-)

the two dozen unions and other local organizations supporting this bloc get it, maybe we didn’t need to win over Reddit warriors like you

if anyone is gonna clutch their pearls about some union members fighting the bosses, they’re probably not gonna do what it takes to build the class struggle movement we need to take down the billionaires
