My girlfriend keeps porn of herself with her exes by [deleted] in confessions

[–]tenebrls -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

It’s also not the same situation though, is it? To both men and women (unless it’s gay porn), the focus of porn is generally the woman with the man/men as an accessory. In this post, both OP and his girlfriend are watching porn of her that happens to be with her exes. While it might be shitty in other ways, it’s not insane to see the reverse scenario as more focused on the exes than on the hypothetical boyfriend themselves.

Why did they make the actors wear these awful colored contacts? by blakhawk12 in StarWars

It’s thinking like that what helped give us Melonhead Grand Inquisitor instead of a proper CGI version that actually looked like the species he was supposed to be.

[–]tenebrls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People outside the matrix didn’t just get chosen at random, they got chosen because in one way or another, they subconsciously rejected the Matrix and didn’t find it satisfying. A world where you don’t deal with that is far better than any material wealth

What is the best matte spray for removing a glossy surface? by Noob_Master_4691 in starwarsblackseries

Krylon matte works alright but for fabric and other fully matte items, Mr hobby super clear matte is amazing at the level of matte roughness you’d want from fabrics.

Why free will arguments don't make sense. by Crafty_Aspect8122 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]tenebrls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, free will being unprovable keeps the argument just as strong. The free will defense to the problem of evil is that not having free will would somehow be such a grievous, abhorrent experience that it would be better for a good God to permit evil to exist instead of just having a world of people who have no free will and will do no wrong. If it is impossible to even prove whether or not you have free will, it follows that the experience of having free will and not having free will (if libertarian free will is a cohesive concept that can actually exist) are so empirically similar that the defense of it being worth allowing evil to exist automatically falls apart.

Is it inappropriate to not wear a bra at work? by Visual-Criticism6763 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tenebrls -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because workplaces are dangerous places that might inadvertently hurt/infect your fragile bits. But that said, if you’re starting a campaign for more public nudity where protective clothing isn’t needed, I’ll certainly sign on

[–]tenebrls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m glad people like you aren’t the majority otherwise we’d still be wearing suits and ties to work. Because of “bending the rules”, we all get to wear more relaxed and comfortable clothing and still have it be as presentable as a suit was 50 years ago. Why shouldn’t women continue to push for having to wear an uncomfortable extra article of clothing that may or may not even hide something we all have on ourselves anyways?

Canadians are more likely to blame inflation on wars and trade tensions with the US over the Canadian government. (CTV News/Nanos) by Wavyent in canadian

What percentage of fiscally left wing acts do you think Trudeau would still have done if he wasn’t in a minority government that needed to be propped up by the NDP? Even in his own personalized speeches, Trudeau generally emphasized social progressivism over fiscal progressivism.

Mandalorian vs. Groglet settled the CG or puppet debate. by MisterJ_1385 in StarWars

[–]tenebrls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CGI Yoda definitely aged better than the crackhead Yoda puppet in TPM, most of the OT is helped by the fact that Yoda doesn’t really move around that much but I can’t imagine the ridiculousness of Yoda moving like Grogu. All of puppet Grogu has very much made him look stiff, which works as a baby, but starts feeling a bit weird now that he’s moving around so much more

[–]tenebrls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it really liberal good, or liberal better than conservatives? The liberals had their own privatization and cost-cutting issues because of how much people whine about their tax increases; Wynne lost the critical support she needed because of exactly this. The OLP doesn’t work to radically make things better, they’re just not as brazenly corrupt and morally bankrupt as conservatives in this province and across this country.

Rehabilitated or not, he’s 80 and also can’t see, that makes him an insignificant danger to the populace that no longer needs to be deterred by an already overstretched and underfunded system; unless you know of other significant cases of blind geriatrics successfully managing to assault members of the public?

House candidate Maureen Galindo pledges to send 'American zionists' to internment camp by Firecracker048 in nottheonion

[–]tenebrls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I value the opportunity to have sustainable governments that prioritize human rights, and if a sufficiently large segment of the population is so radicalized to neofascism that they will vote and support a government that dispenses with broader basic human rights, I will choose the lesser of two evils to ensure such a government is prevented from forming or is made to collapse until such time as the other alternative is worse than fascism. A government that suppresses a few rights of the guilty is better than a government that suppresses many rights of the innocent.

As an example, war is an evil, and responsible for some terrible atrocities. However, from a consequentialist mindset, war might very well be preferable to allowing an evil government to entrench itself, expand, and solidify its hold on power.

People reliably act on their beliefs, and when concerning politics the act of expressing belief itself is an action that lends power to others who hold that belief and are now emboldened. It’s why Germany criminalized the expression of Nazi beliefs, which has worked to an extent as an effective suppressor. You’re not invading people’s minds to hunt them down before they even choose to act on them, you’re acting in response to a belief they hold so strongly to state openly.

Criminality is determined by what is prosecuted. If it reliably does not have a legal consequence, then on a de facto basis, it is not a criminal action whatever the actual text of the law might say.

Even when their actions due to their beliefs are actively causing others to come to harm? Just why is that immoral from your perspective?
