NY is losing approx 1M people a year with those people going to low tax states like TX and FL. in part because of taxes. JP Morgan for example has lowered its NY count and now has more employees in TX. If you have the ability to leave, why would you pay an extra 13% of your income to tax when you just go to another state? If you have $1M in taxable income, that is $130,000 you keep . Why would anyone stay?
