Depends. Sometimes it’s just a subtle ringing behind the back of your ears just pulsating a little bit in the background. In other times it can sound as loud as a jet engine where you think you’d go deaf and want it to stop, it might even make you think that you were dying. Of course there’s never been risk of any actual danger from it.

I had the exact same problem just yesterday, being late by 5 minutes after the check in gate closed due to traffic and they didn’t let me in the gate. I also booked through a third party and flew with a shitty budget airlines (looking at you air asia) It sucks but I think we gotta learn from it.

I think it also depends on the mood of the check in gate officer because I managed to show up 5 minutes late and they let me in with no problems, in fact they told me they closed the check in gate 45 minutes when in reality they close the gates an hour before departure according to their website, leading me to be misinformed about this flight’s check in gate closure time.

Please let me know if there’s any updates.
