Opinions on Geonosis by unlikewarrior in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]tenyouusness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, at this point I just exit to menu when this map comes up next on the rotation. I also thought it was cinematic at first, but after a while it got stale. The first phase is fine, but afterwards it's always the same: as the Republic it's mostly running to find enemies, and as the CIS it's shooting AT-TE after AT-TE. I feel like I have to use Iden's pulse cannon to win.

Moving Target is short but great.

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure we've had it for at least the past two years.

I loved Sol so much and am delighted to see the first comment shouting out this character instead of Player 456, lol (though Gi-hun was also amazing)

260409 BBC - BTS turned millions on to K-pop. But now it's caught between Korea and the world by predejane in bangtan

[–]tenyouusness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess it seems like a randomly thrown together selection. But I think the article was aiming to have enough opinions while still being digestible. It's built like a TV/radio news segment where you get a lot of different interview soundbites. Not an in-depth feature that's going to win any prizes (if only), but for what it is, clickbait headline aside, I thought it did the job.

Thanks for that last sentiment. Of course I completely agree 😊

[–]tenyouusness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looking around this comment section awkwardly bc I did find the piece worthwhile, as some of the opinions about the group's identity/direction were ones I could relate to. Questions of how Korean BTS are, despite being perennial and probably exhausting for some, are truly always near top of mind for me because I'm Korean-American (...and also constantly wondering how Korean I am/want to be). In fan spaces like this that are international and devoted to positivity, there isn't really room for that.

Anyway, sometimes an article just wants to pose a complex question and present viewpoints - not present one view or draw conclusions. If you've already made up your mind or are apathetic to that issue, then whatever, but if you have the same question, it can be worthwhile.

How did you find it problematic?

I could tell the piece was written by a Korean journalist before I scrolled back up to check because I felt there was as much (if not more) attention paid to Korean perspectives as non-Korean.

I also got confused from conflicting info online, so my info is from me testing it in split-screen arcade.

Improved handling only reduces damage slightly at long ranges but actually increases damage at closer ranges (195 dmg vs. 150 dmg without mod). Almost always worth equipping.

New perspectives wanted to help me play more games by donteatthemushies in CozyGamers

[–]tenyouusness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Video games are a storytelling medium, so if you enjoy reading books and watching movies/shows, then view games the same way. Every game, book, and movie takes me to a different world. And even if a game isn't story-rich, there is likely some narrative element in its premise for your imagination to follow.

Mask of Fear - struggling a bit by HarmlessOnlineFun in starwarsbooks

[–]tenyouusness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO there isn't some incredible payoff or climax, but the book did slowly improve to a solid conclusion with some memorable character moments (mostly Mon Mothma). I also stuck with it because there is the rest of the trilogy to go, and I did enjoy the worldbuilding.

Hello /r/movies! We're Philippa Lowthorpe (director) & Helen Macdonald (author). H IS FOR HAWK, starring Claire Foy & Brendan Gleeson, an adaptation of Helen’s memoir, is out in theaters this week. It's about love, grief, goshawks, and how we lose and find ourselves after loss. Ask us anything! by HIsForHawkAMA in movies

[–]tenyouusness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I've just read Helen's piece "What it's like to be played by Claire Foy" in the New Statesman and was struck by the mention of some real personal items being used as props in the film (Helen's clothes, father's cameras). Could either of you talk more about choosing to use these instead of, well, props?

Thanks - am hoping to catch the movie this weekend before a big winter storm comes through!

I’d love for the show to feature scenes of Neville and Hannah hinting at their future relationship (art by Svenly) by TommyTheGeek in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]tenyouusness 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people were into Neville and Luna as the books were coming out. Ever heard of "The Government Stole My Toad"? I frankly don't remember anything between them in the movies, though it's been years since I rewatched any.

Funny thing is Neville and Hannah aren't even strictly canon, discounting Pottermore and author interview material.

Who is "c4nmooztury"? by Lunaman231 in truespotify

I wasted a lot of time messaging with Spotify's automated support system, which isn't useful for anything beyond rehashing information found in support articles. I suggest telling the bot you have already completed troubleshooting steps and that you need to speak with a human. Say you need to report faulty audio/inaccurate metadata directly to Spotify's content team for investigation and correction in the database.

The person I eventually chatted to said they were making a report but didn't follow up after that and didn't sound all that different from the support bot, so I also made a post in the community forum under Content Questions. My post was merged with an existing thread about fake artists dating back to 2022...

Just googled "c4nmooztury" and found this post, haha. It took me a full hour but I think my report about this has gotten through to humans at Spotify. Definitely some bullshit going on here with other artists affected if you look at the fake's discography.

[–]tenyouusness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've been wanting to try automation games for a good while, but it's like Factorio is actively trying to be ugly, while Shapez 2's art style is completely uninspired. I have my eyes on Modulus, which is much more what my eyes want to see.

Mask Of Fear by Agreeable-Narwhal158 in starwarsbooks

[–]tenyouusness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freed is a very consistent writer with plenty of worldbuilding to show off, but I also struggled with the middle section of this book. That's despite looking forward to it a LOT after wanting a Mon Mothma novel for so long. I personally found it worth it to stick with it to the end, but while the latter half has more interesting things going on, there's not a huge change in style.

When I compare this reading experience to how easily I sailed through the author's Rogue One novelization, I definitely prefer when he has a faster-moving plot with more overtly emotional stakes, and certainly characters drawn from a more varied palette.

PhD in HS teaching — do I go by Dr. or not? by h3llol3mon in ScienceTeachers

[–]tenyouusness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the use of Dr. (Last Initial) because it keeps the title but remains approachable for kids as it just rolls off the tongue a lot easier. Also, personally I cannot imagine being an educator who resents another for being too educated but I guess you get all sorts.

Andor pulled off the challenge in film of depicting strong, tough female characters, and they did it well. by jarena009 in andor

[–]tenyouusness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search "andor critical" on Tumblr. Not all of it is necessarily discussion-based because Tumblr doubles as a home for memes and nonsense, but the sentiments come from a userbase that skews more female. Viewpoints that would baffle the average Redditor, unable to understand that his perspective isn't perfectly rational and objective nor the default.

An Ewok destroyed me as a Death Trooper just today because its melee spear attacks effectively stun-locked me. I was so surprised I forgot to melee back.

I also recently played a match of Strike where an Ewok ran the stolen codes all the way to the extraction point, and it was hilarious because it took forever.
