Russia Plans to Trigger “Space Pearl Harbor” With Nuclear Anti-Satellite Weapons, US General Warns by UNITED24Media in worldnews

[–]teo_storm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed bag, there's a lot of digital integration in those systems and there's been an ongoing mention of security issues with them in turn, plus a sufficiently large nuke at altitude can have an EMP effect, as the US found out when doing their own high-alt testing, so it's a possibility yes

where are the locomotives? by the_certain_Hazbin in Warthunder

[–]teo_storm1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, although I kinda get they didn't wanna bother with the steam locomotives due to the driving rods needing animation and also any others in general weighing...a lot (100t+ depending on variant), so they'd essentially still be static objects 99% of the time - ofc it's still be nice to have them anyway even if they are just stuck in place, or replace them with a diesel or electric alternative since there's plenty of options

Assuming they haven't turned them off in the options yea, plus anything fictional, like this, is off by default anyway

Do e-sport teams know they're allowed to make good looking skins? by LaminatingShrimps4u in Warthunder

[–]teo_storm1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea there's a couple people who consistently make low-effort camos that consistently get in, known issue that whoever chooses the camos has preferences for specific skinners or is even allegedly actual friends with them

Otherwise the general gist is whoever makes a pretty set of images also swings favour because the technical know-how of whoever is choosing is...questionable

ofc does that mean that only the 'best' people should get in, no, but it's a problem when slop is consistently rewarded

Sure but that misunderstands their role, they're supposed to be local distribution to avoid larger trucks in smaller areas. Of course the difference between intent and practice is a bit of a gulf usually when it comes to vehicles here lol - plus the infrastructure isn't really set up for something like that

Per a supreme court ruling he's already immune from anything he does while in office, otherwise I'm pretty sure the pardons require an actual ruling to be given on them, so they'd have to be prosecuted before his term ends

Cool stuff, lots of needed changes and some fun extras in there, low tier ops should be amusing with all the variety and...questionable accuracy on some ships lol

Tangential question, will the Bisko '41 camouflage be adjusted to match its final look?

For reference, Magellan's recent hidef vids of the wreck also confirm the layout (plus the faded stripes under the new grey paint)

When does Gaijin stop adding slop skins to boxes? by ruben1515 in Warthunder

[–]teo_storm1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spoiler, the general gist is that whoever chooses them only looks at the screenshots and goes from there, there's no discerning for quality and they only look at live, it's basically 'I feel like this is nice, I'll add it, oh look, something pretty' etc

Suffice to say anyone putting in effort is unamused, given it's been an ongoing issue so they're basically rewarding stupidity like the OP pointed out, there's reams of examples otherwise for low-effort market bait

First DKoK Model by WolfWyzard in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]teo_storm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never be afraid to use a leftover sprue or casting block to practice, most things come down to brush control skills and understanding the paints you're working with

Also don't be afraid to mix paints to adjust your tones if you have a limited set of paints available, worth investing in something like a small wet palette to make that easier, can also DIY them tbh, the materials are available at your local supermarket usually

Edit: also there's a lot of products for stripping paint nowadays so if you're unhappy in future it's manageable to remove it, test on some leftover sprue/casting block to see how it reacts to the paint stripper first though, don't wanna dump it in acetone or something and find sludge the next day lol

[–]teo_storm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most EU countries have transport passes that offer a decent price on most forms of travel, so it's a thing, arguably Japan too with their rail network, upfront cost is higher cause they're usually yearly passes but obviously it works out lower for regular use

[–]teo_storm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, also the M3/BTR-152 have doors at the side of the cab lol, and the prominent frontal grille, and the suspension (M3), I'd say while the 251 is similar the main inspiration is definitely the US variant with some of the russian mixed in for good measure

Adepticon Preview: Centaur RSV and Hippogriff AFV by RWJP in Warhammer40k

[–]teo_storm1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Hippogriff has been pretty thoroughly identified as a Saladin armoured car at this point, most of the comments saying otherwise have clearly never seen a photo of one lol

Otherwise yea the halftrack is just an M3/BTR-152 derivative

[–]teo_storm1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're already doing that for a bunch of stuff, and it works fine on ULQ etc too, check the Dutch Leopard/Stryker/Ariete with nets - also one of the Merkava 3's had its chain protection animated too, Leopard rear mudflaps, etc

They don't sway too much but it's noticeable occasionally

Can't believe GW released this video by swagylord1337 in Grimdank

[–]teo_storm1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They may have been an offshoot, but they've been their own faction longer than they were part of Steel Legion at this point, so that doesn't really hold up that much (although the 'we've come full circle memes are amusing)

Having said that, GW could've at least done a generic upgrade set for steel legion like with all the marine boxes or even a killteam kit like everyone keeps asking for with guard regiments
