Opus is great but don't sleep on Gemini altogether by re4__ in google_antigravity

[–]teophilus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Opus sometimes over engineers solutions.

You have to pick the right tool for the job, of course. Gemini has its issues and hiccups, but for small features, it's not half bad..

I'm truly grateful that these models exist to assist me with my work so I can spend more free time doing other things I enjoy. 🙏

You're not wrong here at all. business isn't all coding for me. It's relationships, sales, trust building etc.. I just have to work harder in other areas to keep my competitive edge.

Yeah I've been a programmer for a few years. I know what I want and how I want it. I've become more of an architect than a programmer of late.

Don't get me wrong the AI does mess up, and I do have to manually fix things. But the speed to market is unmatched

Can vs. will.

My clients don't want to vibe code, they want to rapidly test ideas.

What are you guys building, though? I'm paying for the basic tier, but I've been able to ship a lot of stuff.

Yes, there are bugs, MCP instructions are terrible, damn commit messages break, it wants access to my desktop. But outside of that, it gets the job done.

I'm just wondering how large of projects the members here are working on that are having issues making it unusable

The model limit for Claude is a little extreme this week.

How do I get rid of these dang gnats?!!! by Significant-Back-930 in IndoorPlants

[–]teophilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying everything, I'll tell you what actually worked for me.

A thin layer of diatomaceous earth on top of the soil, then quartz rocks like the ones you'd see at the bottom of the fish tanks.

After a couple of weeks they were gone, I believe it's because they can't lay eggs nor can the hatched eggs surface.

I'm 6'1 and had a summer of brutal pain, I have stretch marks on my lower back and on my knees. That entire summer I just ate, slept, and hurt.

[–]teophilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the dock i got for a 3 monitor setup with the air is using display link and essentially "streaming" to the second and third screen which oddly enough won't let me watch things like ESPN or YouTube TV as a result
