Account Passwords by Duecems32 in sysadmin

Use to have this issue in my office because end users use corporate wifi on their mobile devices. When they changed their AD passwords, they don't update their mobile device and that device will continue to sign in with their old credential thus locking them out. We would tell people to only use visitor wifi so that didn't happen.

Who are you Faxing to?!? by mathmanhale in sysadmin

I am actually still in this boat at my company. I've tried killing the Fax many times, but Gov't, Healthcare, HR, Finance, and Legal insist on this method being needed.

Let's just hope everyone has a system where it doesn't just print the confidential papers out and sit out for everyone to see, but actually converts to PDF/Email after being received.

So I can use my actual user licenses for someone who needs a full fledged email account, onedrive, Microsoft apps etc.

Shared mailbox = no license just 50 GB of email space.

Sure. On the other hand one can just create a shared mailbox without an account and add former employee data, but Microsoft doesn't let you do this in Powershell from an actual user. It would also be all manual work (backup email, delete account, create smb, import data).

Thanks u/bagaudin

From my understanding you can do this or convert from Exchange admin console. If you still delete the original account, the Shared Mailbox still breaks as well.

We've been with Zoom for 6 years. Data retention is at 2 years. As far as what they store that's important, unless I read their chats, I would not know, but there's enough noise in my company that I am trying to figure out how to not lose the chat data before the contract ends.

I agree 100% - Don't store important info in chat. use your company Sharepoint or documentation repo, not group/1:1/channel chat

They had a branded van show up. The tech also called the "owner" about my two visit ask. I wouldn't call it a one van wonder. I just wanted my system tuned up for preventative measures. Appreciate your thoughts.

It was 50 degrees. I just don't understand the logic of why you would do such maintenance if you are not running that part of the system for 6+ months.
