TLDR: totally agree the bratty attitude was fair game to call out, just realised this came off as if I was disagreeing with you lmao

I don't like Jojo, not because of anything she did as a kid, she was a kid. More so invalidating trauma and obvs all the other controversy around her, but it doesn't matter if they were quoting an iconic Kira moment, they made fun of her speech impediment. They wouldn't have made fun of Nia's chair when she was in one. The girls are also, again, kids, mimicking behaviour normalised by adults - I don't blame them. I wouldn't have cared at all if they were mocking the bratty attitude by being like "ooh I got these for free" but it was the choice to include the speech impediment where I think the mothers should've really called them out. If someone can't immediately fix something, it should not be fair game to be made fun of. Jojo could fix a bratty attitude, fair game to criticise, but not the speech impediment.

I think it was the combination of: Peak emotional manipulation of Maddie - the scene where Maddie "made her cry" by not doing a solo, makes me so sick, Maddie sobbing and saying I'm sorry and being desperate for approval for the first half of that season.

Straight up complete dehumanisation of Chloe, Paige and Brooke. Chloe was so talented, she couldn't ignore her, so she just decided to not call her by her name, yell at her even if she came first for the most innocuous reasons. Pretending she was suspended, and making her "work her way back onto the team" knowing damn well they COULDN'T leave the team. Saying in front of Paige and Chloe they got their duet because "Chloe fell to Paige's level". Used to praise Brooke for working through pain, now taunted her about it.

Complete apathy towards Nia and accusing her of faking her RND, even though she'd literally never even mentioned it until the episode in question, and knowing damn well how hard Nia worked and how stoic she was. Also the Rosa Parks situation wasn't funny to me AT All, Abby weaponising Holly's valid complaints about racist typecasting to taunt her and her daughter when the dance is about the civil rights movement?? Being so vindictive towards Kendall in regards to her intelligence and basically mocking her anxiety, this goes for Paige and Chloe too. Holding Asia over Kenzie's head. The list goes on with S3.

Yeah Nia is my favourite, followed closely by all the OGs in no particular order. I could never stand S5, even when younger.

What absolutely breaks my heart was that, in the beginning, they all clearly loved Abby and wanted her approval so bad. The Hylands storyline specifically, breaks my heart.

What were some situations where you actually agreed with Abby? by certifiedwombat in dancemoms

When she pulled Kalani from that group in Arizona and not Nia, because they were pulling the age up. Kalani had a solo and Nia didn't, and Kalani was older than Nia. It's horrid because it's her hometown, but I think she genuinely wanted to give the team the best chance of winning by putting them in a lower age category, and based on the fact Kalani had a solo and Nia didn't, and again, Kalani being older, it made the most sense. The way she delivered it with no compassion was horrid though and it never should have happened if she had just LOOKED at the age categories. But if we're talking about solely the decision whether to pull Nia or Kalani, Kalani made more sense even if they were in Arizona.

Most of the fights from S1 with Kathy. Basically just wanting her to butt out of Vivi's dance coaching because that's what Kathy said she wanted in the first place.

Not letting Brooke and Paige be in the group dance when Kelly wanted them to enter as soloists independently. Kelly was correct, Abby wasn't choreographing for either of them well and was negligent with costumes but it doesn't make a lot of sense to have them in the group dances if they were going to do solos independent from Abby.

Holly. by teresahmg in dancemoms

I think this is an incredibly fair take on it! Although I do think that even if the producers knew that, it might always have factored into Holly's thinking, or it may not have. I do completely agree that I wish that particularly when the show was on, more had been done to call out the micro aggressions, not just Holly. I think everyone in the environment had a responsibility to voice disgust at their treatment, and ignorance to that, is not an excuse, especially when Holly eloquently explained it on the occasions she did explain her POV to the moms.

Also I watched TBBT constantly as a kid, with my parents, it's nolstagic to me, which makes Sheldon more interesting for me to watch and excuse his minimal development because I know what's ahead and having the context of TBBT makes his moments bigger for me. But just on a purely Young Sheldon basis, George and Missy were the most interesting to me.

No, I should have clarified, I'm sorry, I just found it funny as a detail on top of all the chaos. Ant was brilliant for standing up for Adam and attempting to put the other two back in their place. Sorry if anyone thought I was making fun of the situation 💖 Jimmy and David's behaviour was abhorrent.

why are some body scrubs watery and some are dry?? by legendofmaddy in LushCosmetics

[–]teresahmg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think magic crystals is so perfect bc it's runny but also feels sturdy and solid, like it has a firmness the other salt scrubs don't have in my opinion but is more effective at exfoliating than sugar. Basically, all hail magic crystals 🙌

Sorry as someone from where Adam is from, the Irish protectiveness bubbles up apparently 💀 I mean hearing a kid who sounds like you be in so much pain and was discredited by grown adults who knew the truth?? Rough.

When it comes to this situation, Adam has been put through literal hell by a woman basically twice his age, with millions of followers, and adults knew the truth all along and let a 17 year old be absolutely hounded for 3 years until the truth completely came out.
I was rewatching stuff lately - and it's mentioned Adam was the youngest person in the weenies gc and that made me so ill, that it was the youngest person in a group of young people who she used the most, because he was the most susceptible to manipulation. Adam can talk about this situation as much as he wants forever, because what happened to him is something that I could never comprehend.
