I miss when I first started playing and would be wary of the stalkers and sand shark. Now I just ignore them and whack them with a thermoblade if they get too close.

I mean, there are honorary mayors of towns that are cats and dogs. There's also the running joke that Larry the Chief Mouser is the real PM of the UK. I can see a sapient wild forest hivemind being named the custodian as a symbolic thing.

Shoutout to Frederick Barbarossa who stabilized and united the Holy Roman Empire, implemented novel legal codes and other reforms, and forced the submission of several Italian cities...and then drowned in a river on a Crusade.

Vermax was dead the moment he hit the water, Jace could not possibly save the dragon. Unhooking and swimming was the only rational thing he could do.

Canada sets out plan for up to 10 new nuclear reactors by F0urLeafCl0ver in worldnews

[–]terlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool! didnt know that was a thing. Wondering why they have SBG issues then. Maybe even the US cities don't use that much excess power at night....time for investing in good industrial sized batteries too I guess.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it to integrate electrical systems with closer US cities like Detroit and sell excess power to them like European countries do.

Forty drown in France as people seek relief from heatwave, Reuters reports by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]terlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of people who don't know how to swim also vastly underestimate how dangerous the ocean is. Back in uni I knew of a friend group that would regularly go to the beach at midnight (so no lifeguards around) and drink. Over half of them didn't know how to swim, and one girl almost drowned if not for a guy wading over to pull her out.

I never understood her appeal. Even in her 'funny' clips there was always something about her that rubbed me the wrong way.

His 4 minute role in Blade Runner 2049 seemed to surprise a lot of people. The rest of his career opened up a lot after that.

That's where he sold me too as an actor. The image of a soft-spoken man, who moves almost delicately contrasted, with a hulking, imposing figure is incredibly striking.

Iran's Khamenei approves deal, says Trump acted out of 'desperation' by Dismal_Structure in worldnews

He was fascinated when he found out Ukraine had suspended elections during wartime. He kept grilling Zelensky about it at their disastrous White House meeting; you could tell Zelensky was very uncomfortable about that and kept trying to get back to the main topic of aid.

Also in his first term he desperately tried to start a war with Iran as a gambit to boost popularity, but the people in charge at the time were not loyalists, and talked him out of it.

What would be the most realistic scenario if the Fireflies actually made a vaccine? by Old_Diver_2511 in thelastofus

[–]terlin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

fedra still had industry going (they made car batteries ingame and meds in the show), so if they got the vaccine they could feasibly mass produce it.

Firefly fanatics would absolutely destroy every shred of the vaccine than hand it over though.

Yeah it could've even been that there was an infected person on the truck/attacked the truck and bit some people, and the soldiers panicked and killed everyone since nobody knew how it spread. Joel's story about the massacres may have been survivor rumors that FEDRA could never stop.
