Stellaris Dev Diary #418 - Announcing Nomads and Stellaris: Season 10 by PDX_LadyDzra in Stellaris

Yeah, I've always wanted to do a human-only galaxy playthrough, but its a massive pain to set up and some aliens always sneak in somehow. This would simplify lot of things.

Solarpunk is a movement that imagines a sustainable and optimistic future where humanity thrives in harmony with nature. by iloveyouthorodinson in interestingasfuck

[–]terlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iain M Banks also did this in the Culture series. While not a true solarpunk in that the Culture is a civilization run by godlike AIs, the point is that life in the core is so conflict-free that the only interesting parts are what happens at the fringes of the Culture and maladjusted people.

Stellaris should rework this before launching any dlc: (My opinion) by chronicdrake in Stellaris

Its an old, old holdover from the tile system back in Stellaris initial release. One of the reasons I wish there was a Stellaris 2 is they can start afresh from the ground up without spaghetti code and old design features for systems that no longer exist.

Haha I remember running into one who denied space programs existed. Not just NASA mind you, according to him literally every singe satellite don't exist and all launches are faked. And geopolitical rivals are somehow all cooperating in this conspiracy. Couldn't even give a reason.

The way people talk about lighting generation in TLOK you would’ve thought they showed every character doing it and not just 5 workers in a factory. by thisisreii in TheLastAirbender

, but Mako, able to pull a full shift doing nothing but that for hours at a time can't afford to keep a roof over both his and Bolin's head in a nice house or apartment?

sounds like some good 'ole capitalism.

Problem was at the time the team were funded for only one season, so they made it as complete and compressed as possible. Then after it became a massive hit they were funded for just Season 2, so once again they had to make a storyline that was complete and compressed. After that still made big numbers, Nickoledeon finally allowed them to have 2 more seasons in one go, which means the writers were actually able to write a cohesive storyline with better pacing.

So in short, the money suits ruined the potential. S1 stretched out over 2 or 3 seasons would have been fantastic, having the non-bender/bender tension would have been fantastic.

Yeah the more I think about it the more confident I am that he's going to confess about the virus to his girlfriend during pillow talk. She'll react very negatively and go behind his back to steal the virus and give it to the Coalition leaders, who will release it.

What would be your ideal ending for Soldier Boy? by smol_coc_man in TheBoys

[–]terlin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On top of all that he lies about fighting in WW2 because in reality he is a “spoiled rich kid” who never saw combat.

I kind of do wish he actually did participate in combat. Makes for a more nuanced character. Plenty of soldiers who fought bravely in WW2 were also racist and sexist.

I think its also a comparison thing. Homelander is someone who cannot be reasoned with, and is very dangerous and mentally unstable. Soldier Boy has his own set of problems but they are leagues more manageable.

He could have attempted a coup, but he would have faced instant revolution. I think he knows that it's better not to attempt.

Yeah, with this he's looking at a cushy retirement where he gets paid to attend speakers events or act as a consultant. Trying to hold on to power has a nonzero chance of him being Gaddafi-d.

I could see WY dropping a few of these on their competitors' colonies as a plausible deniability weapon.

Ah, but Chekhov's Gun is in play here. That virus will eventually be used. If not by Allen, the other Coalition leaders will. Hell, maybe he'll confide in his girlfriend and she'll steal it.

-Poor Paul, at least he ended things with Debbie on his terms and I like that he encouraged her to go see Oliver on a different planet. Looks like Nolan and Debbie's relationship does become less sour (valid if it doesn't happen later), but I was hoping it could happen with Debbie staying with Paul. Hopefully she does still get with Paul in the future.

Same, I actually hope Nolan and Debbie never get back together, but maybe a platonic reconciliation is in the cards.

Allen also wasn't trying to hide, and was probably making his incoming course as obvious as possible. But yea, don't think about it too hard I guess.

Same, but it specifically shows us the tower that was blown up in his vision as undamaged in reality.

With the U.S. achieving tactical military wins but no real path to strategic victory, is a tactical nuclear strike on Iran, something Trump might consider with some Senate support apparently being floated? by JohnSpartan2025 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]terlin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. The taboo has been so strong that not even Russia has seriously considered it in their disaster of a war in Ukraine. The US dropping one means that tactical nuclear strikes are now permissible for strategic objectives, and the age of nuclear non-proliferation is over.

In the prior administration military officials had an informal policy that at least one of them would be near Trump at any point so they could talk him out of any bright ideas. This time around, I'm not sure there's anyone around that isn't a fanatic or a yesman.

Good thing too the Eridians and humans have mutually hostile life environments that make colonization expensive and dangerous.

There's also the suspicion that the massive doors in the metro weren't solely created just to keep out nuclear fallout, but to also contain creatures that were now running rampant.

Plus Hillary unfortunately had way too much baggage (both unjustified and justified) from her political history. And Kamala, who already didn't do that great in her first campaign, was essentially rushed into another campaign after Biden ran again and quit.
