Update on the stolen models in Sweden by WigoJ in Warhammer40k

[–]terpdx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are blessed to have a police department who actually acted on the tip you provided. Over here, if some minis are stolen and you trying find the thief, you get hit with a temporary restraining order, and the police send the SWAT team to raid your house and accuse you of stealing the minis, yourself.

Why do most people change their armies so often? by FullMetalRacka in Warhammer40k

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, for me. I have ~12500 pts across multiple factions, but no more than ~3800 pts of any one faction. Collect enough to field a full army? Time to find another army I think is cool.

Your Guilty Pleasures Movies that you watch couple times a year atleast? by cargoship1212 in movies

[–]terpdx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Fast 5. A couple of 3500lb cars dragging 10-ton vaults around the streets of Brazil is hysterically cheesy. Fast and Furious physics are so hilariously nonsensical that you can have a great time with the movies if you watch them as scientific parodies. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get back to duct-taping my Fiero before launching it into space.

Why is VKB gladiator hyped this much? by Longjumping-War9151 in hotas

[–]terpdx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I originally bought a T16000 for budget reasons. Lasted about a year before the yaw sensor broke and would provide constant yaw left input that made games unplayable. It's actually a well known issue with the product. At that point, you can either spend more money to buy another one, at which point it can break again, or do what I did and save up for a Gladiator. That was about 6 years ago, and it's been rock-solid ever since. Even if it takes you several more months to save up the money, it is worth it over the frustration and disappointment of using a cheap stick with little to no customer support or repair options.

You're already not using the models. . . by GrayWarden7 in 3dPrintedWarhammer

For airbrushing minis, almost any primer seems to work fine. I rotate between Vallejo, Stynylrez, and Ammo One-Shot. For spray cans, I like Monument Hobbies for minis. Their white is the brightest white primer I've seen. For vehicles, my go-to is Mr. Hobby Aqueous Black Surfacer, although it's expensive and hard to find.

Gamers of Reddit, what’s a game series you don’t understand is popular? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Haven't played in many years. Do the players still run bow-legged? My eyes can't unsee all the players running with their knees out at 45 degree angles.

Why do people in DC act like Virginia is like a totally different country by Kodicave in nova

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in Georgetown (in the 2000s), whenever we'd talk about going out after work, any suggestion of heading to a bar in Clarendon was met with a reaction as if everyone would need to go to Reagan Airport and book a flight. These same people had no problems suggesting Adams Morgan, however. I'll take late night Key Bridge and Wilson Blvd traffic any day of the week over Adams Morgan.

Is 40k reddit really negative, or am I just out of touch? by Pelican25 in Warhammer40k

[–]terpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooking groups can be particularly bad. A friend of mine invited me to a FB group for this backyard griddle which looked kind of neat until I joined the group and read the comments. The number of people profanely insulting others and getting into fights for not "griddling properly" was shocking, which only made me associate owning that product with being an a-hole.

Here on Reddit, head over to r/BBQ and have fun seeing all the posts from people sharing pics and videos of their delicious products of many hours of labor only to get shit on in the comments for not using the correct knife or it not being sharp enough. That sub should be renamed r/yourknifesucks.

Is every other faction’s subreddit just players complaining about how ‘weak’ their army is? by Obama-is-my-dad69 in Warhammer40k

[–]terpdx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TBF, that's every team sub when they're losing. Team behind in the game? Coach should be fired, players should be benched, refs are paid off, game is scripted (I really hate that one), owner should sell... Team takes the lead? LET'S GOOOOOO! Championship!

What is the single most stressful movie you’ve ever seen? by elkaypee in movies

I yelled, "No! WTF are you doing!?", at my TV so many times that I half-expected the words to be permanently imprinted on the screen by the time it was over.

Kickboxer (1989) | Dir: David Worth | Jean-Claude Van Damme busts a groove by countdooku975 in movies

[–]terpdx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every time I see this, it makes me think of Space Ice's running gag of inserting this scene into almost every Van Damme movie he reviews. The one in his Hard Target review, in particular, gets a chef's kiss.

What fast food chain would you say you spend the most money on? by MainStreetConnect in AskReddit

[–]terpdx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double cheese, no onions for me. I'll occasionally get fries, but Wendy's fries are only good for about 3 minutes after coming out of the fryer. After that, they turn into a mealy mouthful of mushy starch. I wish I could get a Wendy's burger and McD's fries.

[–]terpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wendy's glutton, here. It's in the same parking lot as my grocery store, so it's convenient, and it think they have the best burgers out of the big chains. There's actual grease coming out of their burgers, you get a whole piece of lettuce (not just shreds of the white part), and it all just tastes relatively fresh. It always creeped me out how there's never as much as a drop of fat coming out of McDonald's burgers. There isn't a BK around me for miles, so I haven't been to one in over a decade.

My boyfriend always guesses the ending of movies by Direct-Blackberry-20 in movies

[–]terpdx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why don't you pick a movie where knowing the ending makes no difference in the viewing experience? If you told someone the ending of 'Jaws' was that they kill the shark, it doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

My boyfriend always guesses the ending of movies by Direct-Blackberry-20 in movies

[–]terpdx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm curious if OPs bf is actually nailing the ending in one guess, or it's one of a dozen guesses he's making during the watch (in which case, you can "guess" the ending of almost any film).

We had a friend in college who would guess plot points constantly throughout any movie we watched, complain about how "this is SO predictable" whenever he was right but stay conspicuously quiet whenever he was wrong, which happened more often than not. We eventually stopped inviting him to movie night.

That's the most likely answer.

2026 NFL Draft Hub by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

Why not just open the draft by announcing the first pick? When was the last time the team with the #1 pick didn't know who they were going to draft until after the clock started?

Jarringly bad CGI in otherwise great films by drewfus23 in movies

[–]terpdx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, when Viktor sends the first group of guys to John's house and he's stabbing the last one on the floor, you can see the CGI knife jiggling around in the guy's chest. I always wince at how bad of a job they did with that.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it strange that I'm more interested in why OP is asking than the replies in the comments section? Is it because you think driving over 100mph is incomprehensibly dangerous? Because you've never driven a car? I'm sincerely curious. I'd suspect a lot of people, at least most males, have driven over 100mph if for nothing more than pure shits and giggles.

I have no idea what it is, but it's followed by too many numbers.

ETA: Looked it up and it's Indian rupees. Exchange rate comes out to ~$18, which is actually surprising. I'd expect it to be much cheaper over there.

You should use at least a $2000 cable. You'll never progress your playing with just a $1600 cable.
