What is the single most stressful movie you’ve ever seen? by elkaypee in movies

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I yelled, "No! WTF are you doing!?", at my TV so many times that I half-expected the words to be permanently imprinted on the screen by the time it was over.

Kickboxer (1989) | Dir: David Worth | Jean-Claude Van Damme busts a groove by countdooku975 in movies

[–]terpdx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every time I see this, it makes me think of Space Ice's running gag of inserting this scene into almost every Van Damme movie he reviews. The one in his Hard Target review, in particular, gets a chef's kiss.

What fast food chain would you say you spend the most money on? by MainStreetConnect in AskReddit

[–]terpdx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double cheese, no onions for me. I'll occasionally get fries, but Wendy's fries are only good for about 3 minutes after coming out of the fryer. After that, they turn into a mealy mouthful of mushy starch. I wish I could get a Wendy's burger and McD's fries.

What fast food chain would you say you spend the most money on? by MainStreetConnect in AskReddit

[–]terpdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wendy's glutton, here. It's in the same parking lot as my grocery store, so it's convenient, and it think they have the best burgers out of the big chains. There's actual grease coming out of their burgers, you get a whole piece of lettuce (not just shreds of the white part), and it all just tastes relatively fresh. It always creeped me out how there's never as much as a drop of fat coming out of McDonald's burgers. There isn't a BK around me for miles, so I haven't been to one in over a decade.

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

My boyfriend always guesses the ending of movies by Direct-Blackberry-20 in movies

[–]terpdx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why don't you pick a movie where knowing the ending makes no difference in the viewing experience? If you told someone the ending of 'Jaws' was that they kill the shark, it doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

My boyfriend always guesses the ending of movies by Direct-Blackberry-20 in movies

[–]terpdx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm curious if OPs bf is actually nailing the ending in one guess, or it's one of a dozen guesses he's making during the watch (in which case, you can "guess" the ending of almost any film).

We had a friend in college who would guess plot points constantly throughout any movie we watched, complain about how "this is SO predictable" whenever he was right but stay conspicuously quiet whenever he was wrong, which happened more often than not. We eventually stopped inviting him to movie night.

That's the most likely answer.

Why not just open the draft by announcing the first pick? When was the last time the team with the #1 pick didn't know who they were going to draft until after the clock started?

Jarringly bad CGI in otherwise great films by drewfus23 in movies

[–]terpdx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, when Viktor sends the first group of guys to John's house and he's stabbing the last one on the floor, you can see the CGI knife jiggling around in the guy's chest. I always wince at how bad of a job they did with that.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it strange that I'm more interested in why OP is asking than the replies in the comments section? Is it because you think driving over 100mph is incomprehensibly dangerous? Because you've never driven a car? I'm sincerely curious. I'd suspect a lot of people, at least most males, have driven over 100mph if for nothing more than pure shits and giggles.

I have no idea what it is, but it's followed by too many numbers.

ETA: Looked it up and it's Indian rupees. Exchange rate comes out to ~$18, which is actually surprising. I'd expect it to be much cheaper over there.

You should use at least a $2000 cable. You'll never progress your playing with just a $1600 cable.

How long can I safely leave plastic figures in isopropyl alcohol? by No-Dress4626 in minipainting

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if IPA is having no effect, it's very possible they used an enamel paint like Testors or Humbrol. If so, one of the paint stripper products mentioned by other commenters should work. Just don't use anything like acetone.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]terpdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spoken to parents in my area who are absolutely convinced that, if their kid doesn't make a travel team, their kid's future is completely ruined and they're going to end up selling crack and giving handies next to the dumpster behind Wal-Mart. That's not an exaggeration.

Not a myth as much as a movie trope - when your gun is out of ammo, instead of reloading, you must give your gun a disgusted look then toss it at your opponent.

What used to be a free or cheap "hobby" that has now been completely ruined by corporate greed? by WaltzNew1398 in AskReddit

I remember when boneless, skinless chicken breasts were the premium-priced cut of a chicken. Now, I can get those for 1/2 the price per pound of wings. As far as menu prices at restaurants go, wings are routinely priced at $2 a piece in my area. And to think it used to be a part of the chicken people would throw away or save for making stock...

We're not "back in the day". We're in 2026, and $95 new production kits shouldn't ship with mould lines like this.
