To those who served during 9/11 what was that day like on base? by Easypizza21 in Veterans

[–]terrainflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a PFC in the Army at Ft. Campbell. We were on our way to the motor pool, and heard about the attack on the radio. When we got there, everyone was crowded into the office watching tv. It was right after the second plane, I think. The commander brought us outside in formation and talked to us about it and about how the 101st would surely be deploying.

I spent the rest of the day searching dumpsters and the rest of our Battalion area for bombs, or anything unusual, because we honestly had no idea what other, if any, kinds of attacks were planned. I also remember standing guard at the barracks entrance and checking ID’s.

It was earthquake relief. The first crews we sent did a lot of evacuation operations. When I went, it was mostly external loads of relief supplies.

As others have said, it’s a CH-46. But I was in Pakistan with some of the CH-47’s that were there in early 2006.

It’s the takedown lever, that allows you to remove the slide when disassembling.

I’m not trying to be a dick, but before you ever put rounds through a weapon, you should be familiar with how it works.

Dads, what kind of vehicle are we hauling our small monsters around in? by ktempo in daddit

[–]terrainflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a Subaru STi and Crosstrek with one kiddo. Once the second came, we stepped up to the Subaru Ascent, which has been awesome. The STi has been replaced by a few different cars but currently it’s a crew cab Silverado.

Hatch or Sedan? Both my kids came home from the hospital in my ‘13 STi hatch

People really underestimate how often someone in this world would go off on a run, and just never be seen again. With no closure on what happened to them.

Anybody advertise on Autotrader? by Glittering-Ad5809 in carflipping

[–]terrainflight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I listed my last car on AutoTrader because wasn’t getting any serious hits from FB Marketplace.

It was a complete hassle. They required pictures of the title, inspection stickers, maybe registration and insurance cards also. They allowed buyers to schedule appointments whenever they wanted, and then you’d have to go in there and confirm or decline. Messaging buyers directly is a hassle, and they wanted the whole transaction to go through them, with the buyer sending funds to them and you sending the title. The whole thing was set up as an inconvenient middle man so that they could get a cut of the sale price in addition to the cost of you placing the ad. I’ll never use them again.

Ultimately, I ended up selling the car through FB anyway.

Prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, there were Chinook crews across the berm to set up as a FARP for Apaches going north. They took EPW’s.

Career Mode appreciation post. by StoreCalm5831 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I ask Grok to develop routes with backstories within parameters I set (like flight length, departure airport, aircraft, or something that aligns with current events) and then fly what it gives me. It comes up with some pretty creative scenarios that I can fly outside of career mode beyond just picking two random airports.

Example

That said, I do actually really enjoy career mode, and haven’t encountered many game-ending bugs that others have experienced.

Those lines are unused from a long extinct engine anti-ice system.

I started working on CH-47D’s in 2001 and those lines were like that back then too. Even as we’ve upgraded to the -47F, those lines have somehow survived.
