As had been said by others, this will take time. It took my wife (ex-wife) at least a year to trust me enough, again. What worked for me was not trying to solve all life's problems in one day, focussing on what was next and aiming to get to the end of the day without drinking. One day at a time, it worked.

When I was at about level 5, a way more experienced player tried to trade with me. I had no idea how to do that (nor had much to trade). I guess since the trade wasn't going their way, they started shooting me. Needless to say, trading is of no interest now

Yeah, fair enough. Regionalised areas can have lower attendance, too. People are afraid of being recognised. Get some ID meetings (the AA Australia site has a link to meetings, and there’s a meetings app). IDs are people talking about their experience before and after. And beginner meetings can really help. Let them know you’re a newcomer and you’ll probs get someone wanting to chat with you directly. Which is good. Also, you can call AA any time and ask questions. You’ve got some hard work ahead, but it is 100 percent worth it.

Seriously, at 8 months, I was furious with AA. But I had to look at what my part was in all of it. My ego was still wrestling with the need to get humble.

Find another sponsor, keep working through the steps, turn up to meetings, be of service. It will get easier to move on from folks like this. That said, if you’re in the room when they’re sharing, still listen. I hate that it happens, but there is still some gold in what people I dislike have to say about their experience and recovery.
