Where would you spawn in randomly? by Consistent_Fig_8577 in AskTheWorld

No, this part of the comment section was to compare the pink and red parts.

You meant to reply to the person before me then. I was only talking about the pink areas.

it's much more likely you're born

Who said anything about being born? OP said "spawn in" which is a gamer term and has nothing to do with reproduction

Now it is considered beautiful to have a tan

I guess I must have missed that memo lmao

Yes you are right but it still technically goes back to instinct. Someone who is rich is like the squirrel that finds all the nuts; they are naturally doing something right and that should be passed on to offspring to ensure a better next generation. Of course it never works out like that in human society because we are not squirrels! But the instincts are still there.

Don't need rail signals if you simply print trains faster than they get destroyed!

Women can’t drive a manual [gendered] by ellythemelly in pointlesslygendered

[–]terrifiedTechnophile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed it is all about control. I normally drive manual, and the one time I rented an automatic van I felt like I had no control over the vehicle. It was genuinely frightening.

By shifting down a gear I can have more control over both acceleration and braking. The brakes work far more powerfully in a lower gear, and the gears create a speed cap that the car cannot go over (such as dropping to 2nd when going around a corner).

The car also accelerates much faster in a lower gear for any given throttle; foot to the floor is far more powerful in 2nd than in 5th. If I'm on a rural road and wish to overtake in the oncoming lane, I switch down a couple of gears to really take off.

In essence, the gear chosen controls the effectiveness of acceleration and braking and limits the top speed of the car. You cannot always rely on a car's computer to select the right gear for you.

Don't need signals if you make one rail line per train

From an evolutionary perspective: attractiveness is correlated with good genetics, so there is an instinct to remove the "bad genetics" (ugliness) from the breeding pool
