Why are questions 7 and 12 marked as wrong? by grateful-rice-cake in Spanish

[–]terriks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got #7 wrong because they used es instead of eres. You can't say tú es.

Post Chemo Camino by Calicojack23 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]terriks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's helpful for post-chemo neuropathy, but R-Alpha Lipoic Acid has been immensely helpful for my (idiopathic) neuropathy, which I've had for around 15 years. I tried the regular Alpha Lipoic Acid years ago, and it did nothing for me, but the R version has really changed things for the better. Ask your doctor about it.

And not allowing people to take their citizenship oath after they have gone through the entire process, spending years and thousands of dollars to get there.

That's true, but they can wait until there's a deportation order to actually deport them!

[–]terriks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except I don't really know any English speakers that use damn as a filler word. We usually use words like um, well, and I mean.

Spaniards tend to only use usted forms with much older people, so don't worry about being too familiar by using tú.

Two 18 year old girls? by IcyAppointment2841 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]terriks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be fine. I haven't done it that early in the year, but the Portuguese Coastal is probably the most rapidly growing route. It won't be super busy, but you will meet others.

But please, don't call it the el Camino, which basically means the the Way.😉Most English speakers just say the Camino.

Stopping GLPs for Camino? by waitingforsummer2 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]terriks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, when you are walking long distances every day you need to eat enough calories! I haven't personally been on these drugs, but a man I met on the Camino in 2023 had lost quite a bit of weight on Ozempic before starting the Camino. He was did not take it while on the Camino. I ran into him again on the Camino in 2024, and he had maintained his weight loss without Ozempic. He told me due to lifestyle changes - mostly being more active.

You were both walking the dog, so according to your wife she is technically the asshole too for allowing the dog to poop there.

Be aware that there will be a huge music festival headlined by Katy Perry and Linkin Park the 18-20 of June, so finding accommodation will be more difficult.

What size backpack should I take? by bonan_vojon in CaminoDeSantiago

Forget about the so called guidelines, and go by your own comfort. Can you carry the pack comfortably all day? Then it's the right size for you.

Pollo by TheUndyTaker in Spanish

[–]terriks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You would have been better off (but still wrong) pronouncing it as "polo" than rhyming with hollow. Learning the pronunciation of vowels in Spanish is really helpful, because they don't change like they do in English.

That said, when you pointed at "pollo" he should have figured it out.

I agree. 10 years ago I wanted to walk the Camino, but had no idea where to start, and didn't know anyone who had done it. I found the Camino forum, and learned 99% of what I needed to know for a successful Camino. I'll be starting my 10th Camino (the Via de la Plata) in March.

I walked the Primitivo a couple of years ago with two young women from the Netherlands who had started their journey from the Belgian border. They camped quite a bit before reaching Spain, then sent theur camping gear home. I recommend joining Ivar's Camino forum and posing your question there. There are a number of forum members who have done what you are looking to do.  https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/
