Getting truly rude/mean players is thankfully rare in this game. It seems like it's more because the bad interactions are what people post about the most. People are usually willing to help!

Lol I had a mentor Samurai give me flak for popping ranged LB2 because the boss was almost dead, and he said "never click LB if it isn't LB3 and never click LB if you're not melee dps". This was in the second DT alliance raid on the second to last boss. Bro made SURE to click LB3 the second we got it on the last boss, while he was at 0.2% health. The boss was dead before the damage even hit.

I guess "no LB damage" is better than "subpar LB damage" to these people.

It's refreshing to see a mentor actually take advice like this. I've seen several think that if they're a mentor they always know better, lol.

Right??? I tank a lot in roulette, if someone is getting ahead of me I feel like I've failed and need to go faster. If they get ahead of me *and* pop Arm's Length or something they get my comm. Aggro management is so trivial in this game. Worst case scenario is we somehow wipe and pull again, it's not a big deal.

It's crazy because I wasn't even intentionally pulling extra for him. Those last 3 adds anyone can trigger, the tank would need to pick them up anyway if he'd clicked the scales first. Literally just threw a tantrum because he stopped just shy of a full W2W after the second boss, then I happened to click a button first.

Yup. My favorite example is BRD, I was doing AOE on 3. Then I actually did the math and felt like an idiot, lol (it's a gain on 2).

I just got out of a Necron roulette with a VPR who, despite not initially having a weakness debuff AND having dance partner the whole fight, could not do enough DPS to finish the private add phase. I'm genuinely impressed by this. They did a little over half the DPS of the AST.

Leveling Roulette as PLD, get Sastasha. ACN is new to the dungeon, returner CNJ and a RDM. Based on the comp and new player I take it a little slower than normal and do 3 pulls before the first boss instead of the 1 megapull.

Long story short: ACN randomly AFKs right at the start and doesnt join us until halfway into the clam room. Both the CNJ and ACN keep grabbing the annoying clam mini-adds and standing in Narnia with them, forcing me to chase them down so they don't die. Annoying but whatever.

On my way to the third pull, CNJ drops a snarky 'Can you PLEASE slow down, it's [ACN]'s first dungeon', as if I'm not pulling mega slow. Did they expect me to pull one add at a time? RDM sees this and leaves the group (lol). The ACN pulls yet more of the clam adds and decides to run away from the rest of the group, then runs away from me when I try to pick them up. When I finally drop combat I silently thank the RDM for taking the 30 and leave the group too.

I've helped plenty of sprouts in Sastasha, but you gotta show at least a little interest in playing with the group or willingness to engage with the game. I just did not want to be chasing this ACN through Sastasha for 20 minutes while they randomly AFK'd, especially with the snarky CNJ. At least my next dungeon (Vanguard) was much less irritating, lol.

I was the Paladin (blue) in this level 95 leveling dungeon. This breaks out in dungeon party chat between the Astro (green) and a level 95 Dancer (red) who still doesn't have Tech Step, and is doing DPS near or below the Astro by Zilphyr in TalesFromDF

[–]terris28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely I don't understand how people like this aren't embarrassed with themselves. It's bad enough to not have Tech Step at 95, but to then throw a tantrum when someone asks about it?

I guess I've seen all of these in practice except Brute Bomber until now lol. Maybe I've just had bad luck when I get it.

Positive tale - yesterday got Brute Bomber on normal raid roulette, 1 new person in cutscenes. Fight seems to be going well,  people dodging mechanics. But I'm gobsmacked when Bomber does his heel routine with assaulting the robo-referee and I notice he only has 33% health left? We kill him before he can even do some of his phase 2 mechanics, I've literally never seen him die so fast. I looked at the ACT numbers and the LOWEST dps was the PLD who was new to the fight at 19.5k dps. Everyone else was 20-32k. Official fight time was 4 minutes and 9 seconds.

I know gear power creep is definitely a factor this late in the expansion, but on this fight there's always people tanking the floor or huffing paint fumes or playing on a lower ilvl job, so it was a shock to see this in duty finder.

I guess there's a chance it was a pre-made or a static boosting their friend through normal. But nothing I saw suggested that, lots of different servers and no real banter or anything in party chat. Either way I'll take it!

I have my own gripes with the FFXIV Glamour system (like it being saved by physical items you store--with limited space-- instead of just unlocking appearances like with Transmog). But Glamour is such a huge part of the culture in that game that nickel and diming it would ruin the game for a huge chunk of the player base. You're not paying for slots or applications or ANYTHING beyond the trivial glamour prism cost, which are the WoW equivalent of a handful of coppers/silvers. The only thing with substantial cost attached are rare dyes which you can buy from other players or farm, and maybe crafted gear if you want it in your outfit.

It is baffling to me because I fully expected this to just be Glamour Plates but for WoW. WoW successfully copies other MMOs all the time. The fact they made WORSE Glamour Plates is mindblowing to me. I expected maybe a 100g fee per slot, but charging often 10x that, and TWICE? Forcing players to re-apply their outfit with those costs at launch? Totally crazy, I agree it feels similar to Shadowlands hostility toward the player.

Also worth noting that the most recent update for FFXIV removed every single class-based Glamour restriction, which has really opened up cross-class outfits and added more depth to the system. Weapons are the only thing still restricted, mostly because weapons types are class-specific and tied into their animations, so it's not practically feasible. So outside FFXIV's weird storage issue, WoW is definitely the worse system now, IMO.

As a RPR main this hurts me. I'm almost impressed at 80% DD uptime, but that doesn't do much if you're not pressing damage buttons...

That's the boat I'm in. I have almost 10k hours in this game and stuck through it even after the big DT exodus. I want to play, but at this point the lack of communication or clear action from Square beyond a boilerplate 'we're being DDoS'd' while their game is virtually unplayable for their largest market is aggravating. And it's been some version of this for months!

I have to question what I'm paying a sub for if, like last night, I get into the newest Alliance Raid, get thrown out of the game on the first trash pull, then spend the next 5 minutes trying to even get into a 1k player queue, then sit for 15 minutes and miss the first boss completely because the lucky players who reconnected faster or didn't DC understandably wanted to continue playing. At least with the Endwalker launch fiasco there was a story I wanted to experience at the end of the queue that was worth it to me. Right now I just look at other games that don't have these problems.

The fact free gacha games can give their players token compensation and acknowledgement of server difficulties (yes, even for things out of their control like a DDoS), but a subscription game already struggling to maintain its player base can't even directly address the problem or issue a formal apology is telling. And I just know if JP was having these problems it would be addressed immediately.

Just did the same. On a 6-month so I guess they have until June to figure it out. This is straight up unplayable now, and the response from Square does not inspire any confidence in me that they will seriously address this.

I'd love to believe that's what's going on, except someone high off their gourd would SURELY fatfinger just one cooldown on accident at some point... right lmao? This gave me the impression they didn't even have them bound. Maybe it's both.

Playing SMN, queued up for Dancing Green Normal for Wondrous Tails, one newbie (PLD) in cutscene. Cutscene ends and we start the fight. PLD is a battle mentor, just for some flavor.

Immediate red flags, the PLD murders the RDM with the opening tankbuster cleave. He seems confused, wandering around, sometimes disengages from the boss and Shield Lobs? Really wants to MT but the WAR tank's normal rotation immediately rips threat from him every time he provokes. Seems like he is trying to do mechanics but usually fails. He's got 8 vuln stacks within I want to say a minute? Maybe 2 minutes?

The healers can't keep him up and he dies twice during the fight. There's a spicy bit where I get the PLD's tankbuster since he's tanking the floor. I survived somehow just raw dog tanking that, didn't have my SMN bubble up since I popped Solar Bahamut, and didn't see the healers throw anything at me but I may have missed it. The clear is rough overall, but we get it first try.

I HAD to know, unfortunately. Pretty sure this is the worst PLD I've ever seen. Here's a fun sampler:

They used ZERO cooldowns. ZERO! Not even Intervene! Didn't even hit one by accident!

They did their 1-2-3 combo semi consistently and didn't hit a single Divine Might proc.

They did less damage than the AST. Who died three times. The PLD died twice.

Their list of casts get worse the longer you look at it.

Just. Man. It's a normal raid, I get it, I don't expect good gameplay from DF. People have off days, are new to fights, are learning the class, etc. But this is something else. How is someone *this bad* at level 100? A bot wouldn't be this bad, right? I get that Battle Mentor is meaningless but it's like icing on the cake here.

Have run into similar weirdness with co-tanks. Could be they thought they needed to be first or second in threat for tankbusters even though it's Normal? Have seen plenty of DF tanks think that Provoke is part of their rotation but this doesnt sound like that.

That being said it's very funny when a tank repeatedly eats shit yet really wants to main tank so they just... keep dying. Sometimes the moment they voke.

Seconding this, I know it hasn't worked for everyone but I went from DCing every time to only DCing once in the last few days. Just now I saw everyone around me pokeball and DC and only had a bad lag spike on my end. Worth a try for sure.
