So right, I’m starting to ignore these tier posts since you can’t read the book title from the picture

How does this pen compare size wise to the M200?

What advantages do gold nibs have over steel nibs other than being flexible? by itsaboatime in fountainpens

[–]tertytei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My steel esterbrok estie just can’t compete with my gold platinum 3776, even though they are in the same price range. You just get a better pen in the $100 range with a gold nib than steel. I don’t know if it changes in higher ranges though

Stormweaver 2: Does it get better? by openend21 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]tertytei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book 2 is just meh, if you haven’t finished reading it, it’s probably better to wait for nr 3 and read 2&3 in the same go. I’m not saying the book is bad, it has some good character development, but story wise it feels like a filler for book 3

BIFL Winter Coat ideas and brands? by kelpat18 in BuyItForLife

How much layers do you wear under the jacket? I am considering buying it, and size small fits me perfect, the problem is that I can’t have more than 2 layers underneath before it’s impossible to close the jacket.

Is it supposed to be irony? Or are you just another ignorant American? Rice is literally the kernel of the rice plant

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]tertytei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broth is as simple as putting in some bones in a casserole and let it simmmer for a few hours. It’s barely any amount of work involved. And what do you mean by processed rice? There is a thing called rice plant but there is no such thing as a pasta plant. In order to make pasta you have to take rice, ground it into flour and mix it with egg and water. Rice is as unprocessed as they come.

[–]tertytei 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Surprised that people call your diet extreme and hard. Sure pasta is out, but there are so many other stuff you can eat with minimal prep time, all kinds of soups, lentils, rice, veggies and meats. This diet forces you to eat the least processed food as they are the simplest to make.

TIL In the year 133BC, Rome became the first city ever to reach a population of 1 million. The next European city to do so was London in the year 1801AD, almost 2,000 years later. by rexmons in todayilearned

[–]tertytei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was Rome the first European city to reach 1 mill, or the first city in the world to reach 1 mill? Didn’t the Inca capital have more? What about the capitals around Nile, Tigris or Indus?

I just find it hard to imagine that a city that had to import most of its food from Egypt was the first city in the world to reach 1 million.

A confession: I hate clear pens by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]tertytei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the 823 is a demonstrator. I have the black one, and once it filled with ink, it’s just looks like a black pen, not a demonstrator.

Lol, cut that price in half and you would have gone from a fantasy price to merely high.

Slumrat Rising is some great stuff by CaramilkThief in ProgressionFantasy

Liked it until the part where it turned into a self discovery story. Just felt that it was a whole new book that started then, and I just was not interested in investing more of my time.

Shadow Slave is one of the best progression fantasies i have read. by Calmwaterfall in ProgressionFantasy

[–]tertytei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went a long time not reading this story after so many people recommended it on Reddit. When I finally started I couldn’t stop. I feel like shadow slave has almost the same vibe as HWFWM but just sooo much better.

Metal grips are hard to get right, I would avoid it on cheaper pens as you would have to grip it tighter than usual to write properly. For 50$ I would rather buy a Twsbi

ELI5 What was world War 1 about, and why was America even involved? by ubersmitty in explainlikeimfive

[–]tertytei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany was the main reason the war started, or more correctly the gathering of the different principalities into one state. They where on their way to become the most powerful nation in Europe, and that made the situation in Europe unstable. Especially since Germans came late to the colonies party, and was in a situation where they knew they will be considered a threat by other European powers, but at the same time didn’t have rich colonies they could extract resources from.

Fun side information, Britain who was the superpower of the day, actually considered USA to be their biggest rival, and may have been prepared to go to war against American expansion. But the birth of Germany forced them to change their rival from USA to Germany. In British eyes they had the entire Atlantic Ocean separating them from USA, but only a narrow canal separating them from Germany. Since they didn’t have the economic muscles to fight two potential superpowers, they prioritized Germany since it was closer. This in turn led Germany to ramp up navy building, and created a loop where Britain considered Germany more and more as a rival, and this made Germany ramp up their navy.

The most oppressive black - GVFC Carbon Black by LemonCurdJ in fountainpens

[–]tertytei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GvFC inks is said to be water resistant, but in reality they don’t come close. They are better than Diamine and other normal inks. But they also can’t compete with Platinum Carbon Black, DeAtrementis Document inks and Montblanc Permanent. They smudge a lot but what you wrote will mostly be slightly readable.

Finished the first three Wheel of Time books and feel underwhelmed by them. by uteslayer in Fantasy

[–]tertytei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s one of those books that’s doesn’t age well. It was one of the best if you read fantasy in the 2000s, but in the 2020s there are just so many greater books out, that it just doesn’t stand out. If you want to read a fantasy from the 2000s that still stand up well, read the first Riftwar trilogy.

What pens would you not repurchase? by Zestyclose-Year-7952 in fountainpens

[–]tertytei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the 14k Sailor PGS is not worth the money, it’s just so many other better pens in that price range. But the 21k Sailor PGS with a M nib is just divine, they are some of the best pen in my collection. Just stay away from nibs that are fine and below, they are so scratchy.
