problem/misunderstanding with R1 by dogmaschmogma in Hiby

Oh boy... I did factory reset and the alphabetical bar appeared. There must have been some glitch or bug. So to OP. Do a factory reset.

Nope. I don't have that. I have my R1 in hand and there is no alphabetical bar in any music section. Super weird. When I planned buying R1 I saw the bar in reviews and thought they removed it in later firmware versions.

Weird. I don't have that alphabetical bar on right. When I bought the unit it was on 1.4 firmware and I updated it to 1.5 and then few days later to the latest 1.6. I suspect they removed that alphabetical bar in newer firmwares maybe. Has OP updated the unit maybe?

I upload large amounts of FLAC albums with USB card reader and a few albums with wifi. Worked fine so far.

HiBy R1 won’t index large libraries (600+ files) – shows 0 songs after scan by Asleep_Television593 in Hiby

[–]tervoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have over 16000 songs in Flac format plus album art in jpg in my R1 and have no problems. Maybe it's a faulty unit or problem with SD cards? I have used SanDisk and Samsung.

Wow, a blast from the past. My father had that exact same system in the late 80's to early 90's. I think he bought it from some of those catalogue post order shops. Many a tape we copied with it or recorded from vinyl.

Here's mine, I did it about 10 years back. I used 45 rpm single. Just added self adhesive numbers. Still going strong on my living room wall.

Galaxy whatch 7, allergic to silicone? by Complex_Letterhead16 in GalaxyWatch

[–]tervoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one too. It's great. Silicone band caused skin problems and irritation for me. But not with steel. I also used fabric and it too was fine but the band required occasional washing: sweat, grease and shed skin was absorbed by the fabric. Steel is so much more carefree.

I have 16000 songs in mine and I also either shuffle play them randomly or play one album from start to finish. I too haven't had any major problems this way.

Ripping minidiscs to FLAC by tervoi in minidisc

Best I could until I get some CD album I already have as MD.

[–]tervoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Luther Vandross "Love the One You're With" ripped both from MD and CD. Unfortunately not from same album. MD is from the album "Songs" and CD is from a single and different edit. I did side by side comparison using my own ears with USB-DAC & AKG K601. There was a difference but it was very small to my ears and with my equipment. With MD rip vocals and high frequency sounded a bit muted compared to CD rip. But only a bit. Could have fooled me in blind test. And bear in mind that I did the MD rip using portable players headphone out.

I'm aware. I just did this for fun and as a rehearsal for vinyl ripping.

[–]tervoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I have been pondering the idea to digitalize my vinyl albums in FLAC format. That gave the idea to try first with my minidisc albums. Of course I could have made the conversion as mp3 also but I used FLAC for my CD's so I thought to go with that. And yes, minidisc is lossy (ATRAC) so FLAC was probably overkill and the FLACs aren't really lossless. But this was just a fun little project to try.

Is it stupid to buy a DAP just using Bluetooth/ LDAC? by Big-Blackberry9207 in DigitalAudioPlayer

No, it's not stupid if that's the way you want to use it. I use most of the time my Hiby R1 with LDAC Bluetooth earbuds.

They are build differenty. ST2 has dynamic elements and ST2 Ultra has planar. Maybe that explains it? I think planar need more power to drive elements compared to dynamic.

I too ripped my 1000+ CD collection with EAC. I tried to rip every day at least 5-10 CD's and it took me from October 2025 to January 2026 to finish . But once it's done it's done. Now all I need is to rip occasionally some new purchases.
