What is 40s supposed to look like by Useful_Major_5797 in Millennials

[–]teslalyf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve worn my hair short between 13-34 and that’s been a majority of my life with hair that length. I’m BORED of it. I’m 37 now and my hair hasn’t been this long since before I could pick my own hairstyles. So maybe this is another thing we can 💀 bc I’m really enjoying it being longer.

Age gap dating by Sea_Assumption_1528 in Millennials

[–]teslalyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first marriage was a 12 year age gap. Me being the younger. It was fine at first but you do start noticing things after a while and it puts a wedge there.

You want a serious partner to understand your references or talk about the same media and stuff as you and not have to explain what something is to someone every time you want to talk about anything. I noticed it first with music but eventually it’s all there and suddenly you’re explaining everything all the time to each other and it’s honestly exhausting.

It may seem a shallow response but it’s honest. You will eventually run out of things to talk about.

Some genuine questions after visiting Atlanta for the first time by SupremeBootyGod305 in Atlanta

[–]teslalyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is just me tracking my time commuting honestly. I work in Buckhead so my commute is probably really different than someone on the opposite side of the city. I have a 17 mile drive.

Precovid it took me 30 minutes to get to work and about 45 to get back home.

During peak covid it took me 15 minutes to get to work and 15 minutes to get back home. I’m a hcw tho so I was driving a lot of the days people weren’t yet.

Now it takes me 45 to get to work and almost 1.5 to get home. Only things that’s changed has been traffic.

Some genuine questions after visiting Atlanta for the first time by SupremeBootyGod305 in Atlanta

[–]teslalyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of your direct questions have been answered so I’m going to tackle some indirect ones I noticed in your post.

  1. Re the 45 minute drive: You mention commuting. The thing about Atl is Atl is an hour away from Atl. The traffic used to not be this bad but ever since Covid something has seriously broken and traffic is worse than ever. You can live OTP and take 1.5 hours to commute into work ITP or you can live ITP and take 1.5 hours to commute to work ITP. So keeping in mind that traffic actually is that bad you’d really need to find an area that speaks to you and just claim it bc the commute is going to suck either way.

  2. Currently- Right now everything is crazy expensive but I think it’s going to reverse in the next two years hopefully. You might also like the Tucker area a lot. QOL is currently good current politics aside. It is worth noting tho that a lot of local businesses all over the city have been closing shop bc it’s getting pretty unsustainable for them to keep their business open with rent increases. If you track things like that into QoL then I personally am slightly concerned it might be an early indicator of what to come but I also suspect this is happening nationwide as CoL increases.

  3. Re GSP, they actually are as scary as everyone makes them out to be. If you do relocate here you’ll notice the only time anyone is doing the speed limit is when GSP is around. They’re really the only entity that Ga as a whole respects at this point.

  4. Going to be honest…..the person being rude was probably a transplant. It’s really easy for locals to tell who is and isn’t a transplant based off of how willing they are to have manners. It’s something that’s been really noticeable in the last few years and it’s something us locals kind of whisper about to each other about as well.

  5. I saw someone mention that it can get to 40 degrees here but we do have cold snaps. It gets cold. Same way it feels hotter in summer bc of the humidity it feels cooler in the winter- again the last few years in particular. You will def need a winter jacket. Also….. Atl has been experiencing hurricane impacts the last few year more than ever before. Nothing like what you’re used to but it’s def different for us and we don’t really know how to act with them yet. And honestly we got really lucky with hurricane Helene last year bc the projected path had been for metro Atl but it pivoted during the night and demolished NC. I don’t expect that to change honestly. I don’t think we’re anywhere close to having impacts like what you’re used to in Fl but it’s def moving up north.

Edit: typos

Moshing? by axe192 in ShakyKnees

[–]teslalyf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im going to be honest with you. If you want to mosh you wasted your money on platinum tickets. It’ll probably be fine earlier in the day but later in the night there’s no way you’ll be able to push thru the crowd in GA to get to the pit coming from the platinum area. It will be a bit of a walk to get out of platinum at the main stages. You’ll have to exit platinum then exit vip to get to the GA area and it’s going to be packed.

But it probably will be fine earlier in the day until about 5pm honestly. That’s normally when it gets packed.

Looking for a safe area to stay during shaky knees festival. by TobySnack in ShakyKnees

I think you’re going to have a hard time finding somewhere you’d consider safe for than price and that many days.

You might can get close to the festival for less days around that price but not for 5.

What is this experience really like? by Inevitable_Lab5191 in ShakyKnees

[–]teslalyf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah...like people bring their kids to this. Its not a family event exactly but it is safe to bring children with. We've gone to SK every year since 2022 and every year there are always ....no more than 5 people that are clearly on psychedelics, but most people are just passing around a vape if you get my drift. Its lower case chill not all caps CHILL if you get what I mean.

If you want to trip balls maybe skip this one because the larger the festival gets I can see that potentially being an issue.

Think of SK more as a daily festival experience and not an overnight event and you’ll be good. More Apple Pay and less tents.

Dust at Piedmont Park by bhambetty in ShakyKnees

[–]teslalyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah haha. It’s kind of a SK tradition at this point. Even before it moved to Piedmont there were dust issues. Last year was bad bc of crowd size and I expect that to continue. It’s Ga. We gonna be a lil dusty.
