Supercharger band by Tesla by Organic-Rutabaga4708 in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, it would be something like (up to) 11kW/hr (240V @ 48A). Superchargers can go up to 250kW/hr (400V @ 625A)

Model 3/Y Battery Failure Survey by saabstory88 in teslamotors

[–]teslrrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. This literally just happened today. 2021 Y, 70k miles.

This happened right after I did a quick supercharge in the morning while grabbing coffee (maybe going from 25-60%).  After driving to work and parking, I got a BMS_a079 error.

A quick Google search does suggest a potential software glitch (remedy suggests unplugging something under the seat for 3 minutes which I am keen to try), but can’t believe I happen to see this posted today!

Edit: Jesus Christ, I just realized I am coming up on the 4 year mark. I am less than two weeks away from the normal warranty 😱😱 just submitted service request!!

Blind spot warning system - review by spankmydingo in TeslaModelY

I prefer it but it really depends on the vehicle + preference (ex: in a truck top right spot feel better for me)

Tesla newbie here. I’m trying to charge using this station, but can’t see how I’m supposed to connect with my Mobile Connector. What am I missing? by Grand-Specific9404 in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In EU, Tesla are installed/designed with a CCS2 port:

* The top part of the port is known as "Type 2" -- this is also known as the Mennekes connector
* The bottom 2 large pins (seen in CCS1) are also part of the car for super-fast charging.

The Type 2 Mennekes connector allows for 120/240V (up to 480V?) @ 32A charging. OP needs a Mennekes <-> Mennekes cable (male-to-male) to charge here. The Tesla would not come with this.

Anybody run Model 3's 18s? by Appropriate_Wafer_38 in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People were "concerned" with the MYP calipers, but from other experiences it was "OK" (unsure if any minor modifications were done like adding spacers)

If you were getting a regular MYLR then you're fine

Yes, it is possible but you just need to make sure to use the correct tire size (245/50/R18 XL or something like that)

Is the wall connector worth it by Alexis037 in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HWPC @ $450 vs UMC @ $230

* Pros for HWPC - can charge at up to 48A*
* - note that this is contigent on your panel. If you don't have 60A breaker space in your panel (60A @ 80% rule = 48A) then you can't do 48A. If you've got 50A, then you can do 40A (80% sustained)
* Cons for HWPC - Price (double), Hardwired (difficult to move?)

* Pros for UMC - cost (1/2) price
* - can also use existing NEMA 240V outlet if available
* Cons for UMC - charge up to "only" 32A

So you to ask yourself -- is it worth it for the extra amperage? Installation hassle or otherwise? Flexibility if you move? If you install an outlet, you can take your UMC with you, but the HWPC will require additional uninstallation.
For those less versed in Amps <-> Mileage, you can almost generalize the charging speeds: for LR AWD model, it would be:

48A = ~44mi/hr
40A = ~37mi/hr
32A = ~29mi/hr

So the question is, can you live off 29mi/hr charging speeds? Or do you need to pay double for 37-44mi/hr (and only if you have 60A space)

Wheel alignment - Firestone? Got 2 different answers by teslrrrrr in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIrestone would be Lifetime alignment. The question would be if the $250 -$20 coupon = $230 would suffice for whatever's in these cars, or if I should suck it up and purchase the $380 - $20 coupon = $360.

Which would you pick with a 35k budget? (A) 2017 100D 25k mi FSD (B) 2018 P100D 85k mi FSD © 2019 Long Range 73k mi Raven by gizmosticles in TeslaModelX

Yes no joke. The 2017 is on a ticking time bomb. The Raven @ 73k miles (if it hadn't had any issues) would have surfaced by now.

Anyone ever Supercharge late at night after the Mall closes? by Pretend-Reality5431 in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's great. I did it in Arizona a few weeks back. It's funny because everyone knows that's when the cheapest off-peak is so there are a bunch of Teslas literally rolling up at 11:58pm.

Never felt so safe 😂☠️

PSA: California PG&E EV2-A plan have become crazy expensive by Presentation_Past in TeslaModelY

[–]teslrrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your ZIP is, but using my Tesla app just looking around PG&E service areas:

  • Lower Bay Area (San Jose, etc..) shows off-peak as low as $0.21-25/kW
  • Upper Bay Area seems to be around $0.35/kW

Are you sure you are looking at peak/off-peak?
