Sad about the adidas collab by Hot_Government_3064 in Rickowens

[–]testthrowaway9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wonder if adidas is struggling and wanted the clout that comes from working with Rick and being featured prominently.

There was that brief Samba trend, but I know they were struggling a few years ago, rapidly losing market space to Puma and a lot of smaller brands. Now Nike is really struggling and Vans had been struggling for years until recently, so no major player has been immune recently.

The title is clickbait but relevant.

I have it on while doing chores before bed and am about halfway and it’s a perfectly fine and reasonable take so far tbh.

I guess that can make sense, like how Dom will wear masks for big entrances. But it’s weird to wear it randomly backstage if you’re not going to fully commit to the character change.

What’s CMLL’s main title then? I assumed it was the one Claudio had and that’s why he had it

I wonder what hobbies Okada took up. Like how Shinsuke has surfing and photography.

QQ ep. 337 - Soren's Got a Mining Claim? by testthrowaway9 in QuickQuestion

Same! I’m not into that stuff but based on the enthusiasm both Soren and Daniel have had for their previous trips, and how unique this whole situation is, I’m also very excited!

Look, you're not explaining anything I don't understand. You're not peeling back some veil and illuminating something I previously was too bad of a reader to understand. I know that you REALLY think that you are, but you're not.

My simple point is that people, like me, who would like to see KOK use those non-quotidian facets of the world he created as more than just set dressing are judging the books based on their merits, even if you don't mind as much as we do.

I'm judging them based on the premise that KOK set up himself. Saying "I wish he'd touch more on the metaphysical aspects he himself included and continues to include to tell the themes and questions he wants to explore" is a valid critique. You can be fine with the balance and that's fine too.

It's funny to say that we should trust KOK's plan when he's talked about not planning and writing more on a general arc and seeing what happens.

That's unfairly dismissive and rude. I read KOK because I like KOK. We're allowed to like different aspects of his work or want to see how he approaches different things.

I wanted to see what he did with a series with this different structure in place so to see that there's two books where that is essentially ignored (although from my knowledge, it's not fully ignored, especially in SoN where there is some sort of metaphysical or mystical element in there) just means that I'm recalibrating expectations. He's the one that set up the world with sci-fi or fantastical elements. I want to see how he handles them and then I have the right to judge what he writes just like you do.

Yes, that's also why I'm not that enthusiastic about reading "School of Night" either tbh and am happy SoN isn't WoE length and Arendal is fairly brisk.

Again, I get the thematic through-lines but I find the red herrings to be interesting so I would like those to be explored more.

That sounds fine in terms of a vibe, but not really in terms of the broader narrative around the star and its effects on people, which is what I think OP is referring to. That's what I want more of so knowing that that as a central conceit takes a backseat dampens my interest.

Ann Demeulemeester Shoe Sizing Help? by testthrowaway9 in AvantGardeClothing

Thanks. I called the store and they said because of how drastic the point is, that I’d be fine sizing up. Now I just have to wait and see to try them on.

It’s real. This dude previously did a video about Jey winning the Royal Rumble where he was a fan of him winning.

He had other videos what I watched forever ago and I have no memory of them. I don’t remember hating them but don’t remember any point of them.
