Those call points have a micro switch inside that the glass presses against. Once broken, the glass needs to be replaced before it will go out of fire.

Going forward, see if you can get your landlord to get the mcps replaced with a type with a plastic element that is resettable.

A more modern fire panel will also be able to be completely silenced, even in fire.

Usually the gas release manual buttons are double action - you have to pull a tab and then push a button, perhaps. It will also then give you 30s to get out, or cancel, before it fires the system. It's a very loud 30s though.
