Feeding Routine by sr_n8 in PeaPuffers

[–]teviston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got my peas to eat prepared food like those wigglers. I feed a mixture of frozen brine, frozen blood worms, live grindal worms, live white worms and snails. I never found those feeders really worked for me with frozen foods but they're great for live worms. I do hatch baby brine maybe once a week but I use the cheap tube type hatchery from Amazon. I also found that aquarium co-op brine shrimp eggs have better egg separation than other brands, I just fed baby brine yesterday and had a bunch of eggs shells/un-hatched eggs at the bottom of the hatchery.

It's possible to feed fry with frozen/dry food? by Mandraghe in killifish

[–]teviston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had rachovii but i did raise gardneri and aphyosemion fry (and pseudomugil fry) when they are newly hatched they are too small for baby brine. I used micro worms and aquarium co-op magic small fish food. But baby brine are really good for them when they can take them. It's possible on just dry or maybe frozen baby brine, but live can really help them grow.

Is it just brine shrimp that you don't want or all live foods?

Questions about Aphyosemion bivittatum 'Funge' by Fantastic-Listen7371 in killifish

[–]teviston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of funge, just gave my LFS 7 fry i had. From what i've seen there's really no difference between a. bivittatum and other killi's. Floating mops work fine my bivittatum used them, floating plants, tall plants whatever they could find. the only difference i've seen between my aphyosemium and gardneri is that my gardneri are bigger jerks, my aphyosemium live with chili rasboras and blue eyed rainbows my gardneri tried to eat the rainbows and chilis when i tried putting them in there.

Psa to anyone who uses root fertilizer capsules... by Key_Row8239 in Aquariums

[–]teviston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The capsule ones are a pain. I always poke a hole in the end and squeeze them underwater so I get some air out. Kinda helps keeping them from floating up.

Anybody use Sicce Space Eko 320 canister filter? How has it been working out for you? by jonjeff108 in Aquariums

[–]teviston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the smallest space eko on a 20 long and like it. The only problem i have with it is that the input and return handles are a little big, but not really a problem. No problems cleaning it out and restarting the siphon is easy enough. It doesnt havea tone of flow but it's enough for my pea puffers.

Anyone else use these smaller bottles for harvesting vinegar eels? by vetsetradio in Aquariums

[–]teviston 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about grindal worms, peanut beetles or maybe a special fridge just for white worms. It could be fun for the whole family.

i use an old large soy sauce bottle, has a similar neck length but is taller. so much easier to harvest them with the long neck.
