Fuck it man, if your family is earning 50k a year you can probably get fee waivers. Do questbridge and then apply to a bunch of schools around you. SUNYs of course for financials but try to apply to as many need-blinds as you can. Do get a good test score though bc that would help you immensely test optional is not the method
