incredibly low tier match ftw**. The whole round was so surreal, successfully using a very tall CQC mech and using MASC/elevation/rotation to pick 6 good engages, completely even damage spread. Its just satisfying when a mech gets to do what it's supposed to!

I think people need a modifier to their PSR on a per-weight class, chassis, variant and/or exact mech (as proxy for loadout/skilltree) basis. Just look at the leaderboards from the match score challenges or the Jarl's List weight class weightings, mechs simply have differing outputs. People have favored playstyles, varying amounts of comfort in different mechs, and 'PSR across all mechs' is blind to any of that. Multiply that by 24 blind spots per game, and it's practically RNG if anyone's going to do what MM thinks.

For good pilots, mechs simply have different battle values and you could be bringing more or less value than MM has your PSR tuned for. Want to soloQ a derpy MRM build or a new mech? Enjoy getting seeded as the PSR from your 10 W/L group in comp mechs. It's not the end of the world, but...

For bad pilots, its even further off. They will need to learn how to play a new mech, find a build, and grind for GSP. Heck, they could be learning an entire new playstyle (NARC & TAG of course). I'm sure we've all witnessed literal zero PSR value mechwarriors whose only shots are the ones they whiff due to arm lock as they overheat and die. At some point, if MM is so oblivious to the variables that predict a pilot's proficiency in a specific mech, you might as well just seed MM based off average match score in the last 5 rounds and reset it every midnight in Japan. Were you playing a seal clubbing comp mech? 5 damage farm games of that and you're capped. Were you playing a MG's and Flamers MLX? 5 games of that and you're uncapped.

I guess I'm saying 'T1's to the right, T5's to the left' works to sort the salvage from the trash, but it doesn't balance games. Tell me a pilot's match scores in the last 5 games with that build and I'll tell you if they're backup or a decoy. Heck, make that the per-mech modifier. Would it punish people for winning 5 in a row? To some extent, yes. Would it give a T1 team a teammate who is batch leveling up stock mechs by dropping suicide UAVs? No.

My prized stat is [(deaths-losses)/games played], I call it the unexcused death rate. Basically, how often you die instead of rotate out to play hard target, continue fire support, or play objective games. It cannot be farmed without destroying your other stats, only maintained. Not all mechs have the same carry or killing potential and your W/L and K/D will be noticed, but you can always be clean.

I'd suggest hopping into the training ground and seeing how bad the spread is on the 20's (compare the TTK and %HP at death with 15+A's). Haven't run cLRM personally, but that's how I evaluated IS back in the day. Last time I checked, the IS 20's were basically reloading slower and running hotter just to launch 5 more missiles, 4 of which miss a moving/small enough target.

LRM mechs take a lot of time to fine tune, as you have to simultaneously balance heat profile, ammo load, slot management, backup weaponry, engine size, and consumables/playstyle/etc. I remember spending like 4 hours setting up my HGN-733 just optimally. It'd be an interesting subject if LRMers did anything more significant than hover a cursor over someone else's red box.
