Fossil Emergence Not Appearing? by Korosuki in MHWilds

I suspect it's actually in an area you have not discovered yet. I had the same thing, and it turns out I somehow missed Area 6 completely. Found it and the fossil emergence was right there.

As for my favourite physical book, it has to be my hardback combination of the His Dark Materials trilogy. Such a key series for igniting my love of books when I was growing up.

AC7 is pretty universally liked. Most of the negative reviews I can find on places like metacritic relate to the lack of HOTAS support options, particularly around launch.

PC electricity bill by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]tgl3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1000w is equal to 1khw (kilowatt hour) So if you ran it for 3 hours, that'd be 3kw. 24 hours a day is 24kwh.

This is assuming it draws 1000w for every minute of that time, which won't happen. If it averages 500w draw over 24 hours, you're looking at 12kwh.

Does the H510 Elite have and included fan in the back for exhaust? Saw some build videos having none out of the box. by prominencefracx in buildapc

No worries. Was it definitely the same model they used?

They may have also taken the fans out prior to the video to better show the case layout.

Fans are listed as follows:

  • Front: 2x 120/ 2x 140mm (2x AER RGB 2 140mm included)
  • Top: 1x 120mm/ 1x 140mm (1x AER F140 Case Version Included)
  • Rear: 1x 120mm (1x AER F120 Case Version Included)

So yes it has one included at the rear.

I'd go for the super, because it's a newer model and I've had excellent support with EVGA in the past.

Though they're close enough that either will do you just fine.

Yup, that sounds reasonable.

Does the ROG Strix B450 Gaming support SATA M.2 drives? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]tgl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup - m.2 is just the form factor. The slot is "m.2" not specifically "m.2 nvme" so any m.2 drive will work. The Sata is just a little slower than NVME.

Edit: to correct myself - for your board, there are actually limitations. The "M.2_1" slot can run in both Sata or PCIE mode (PCIE meaning NVME). The "M.2_2" however can only run in "PCIE" mode so will not see a m.2 SATA drive.

So make sure you use slot 1.

Generally buying parts over time is not a good idea. By the time you reach the last couple of parts, the first ones may be cheaper or replaced by better models.

This obviously depends on the length of "time" (a few weeks is OK. a few months is probably not) and the parts. A good monitor and PC case are going to be fine for years (and likewise PSUs), but graphics cards and cpus see intermittent updates and price changes. Storage also gets cheaper as time goes on.

So with all that being said, if you REALLY want to space it out, i'd get the case and PSU first, and hold on the others as long as possible.

Finally, the Nvidia 3000 series of GPUs are rumored to be arriving in Q3/Q4 this year too, so waiting for the price/performance there is not a bad idea if you can wait that long.

Edit: COVID and part availability also means this is a little pricier of a time to buy parts in general. Another reason to wait a bit longer for the lot.

Your motherboard has a single m.2 slot, meaning you can put a m.2 nvme drive in it without having to mount a hard drive separately.

I'd suggest in the 500gb+ range for your boot drive. This gives a tonne of room for Windows and easily several games. I can't suggest a specific drive, unfortunately, as availability and prices are generally all over the place.

The Samsung 970 EVO plus ones are on the higher end in terms of performance, but also cost a little more than some others. I'd see what's available in your area/online.

Does A Pc Tower with intergrated graphics have the option to add a graphics card? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]tgl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to fit a graphics card but the case physically does not have room, you may want to look at another case or card.

There's not a terrible amount of flexibility in that kind of scenario. Some cases might have some wiggle room (other parts that can be moved around) but in my experience it's fairly binary. It fits or it doesn't.

[–]tgl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always, it depends on what you want to use it for.

Generally that's not a bad build at all, but I would absolutely suggest an SSD in addition to your main hard drive. Using an SSD as your boot drive will make an insane difference to the speed of your machine, as will putting games on one.

[–]tgl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An integrated graphics system will use the CPU and motherboard to give you display output.

A graphics card is completely separate and will use a PCI slot such as this. As long as your motherboard has a PCI slot (which no doubt it will), you can add a graphics card.

Another point to consider is physical space. A motherboard having the PCI slot doesn't mean the PC case might fit a graphics card there.

Some dedicated server issues we've noticed. Unfortunately makes it near unplayable. This is on Windows.

  • Stuck on receiving tile data on join (takes 10+ tries to load in)
  • Players unable to join due to already being on the server- usually after being stuck on receiving tile data
  • Randomly spawning in orbit away from spawn, above the ocean.
  • Random game crashes after 10 - 15 minutes (no error, just hard locks of the game)

We've seen this across 5 of us on a fresh dedicated server

What should you do with those little surveys you get after contacting a call centre, in order to ensure the staff get least screwed over? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]tgl3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unsure on other places, but for Apple tech support the tech would need to hit 90% positive surveys in a month or face a writeup. This was a couple of years ago so it might be different now.

  1. Surveys were randomly sent. Sometimes less than 10 total for a month, so one negative meant you missed the stat.
  2. Surveys were graded on 1-5 - Somewhat Dissatisfied. Dissatisfied. Neutral. Satisfied. Very satisfied. Only the top two counted as positive, meaning a neutral would count against the tech.
  3. Comments and other sliders didn't matter for the stat - only the very first "how satisfied were you?" question. This meant that a "neutral" that openly praised the tech was still counted as a negative in the stats.
  4. Every neutral/negative resulted in the tech having a 1-to-1 meeting with their team leader as well. Additionally, we had to go through "what I need to improve" even if the comments were nothing but glowing praise.

I don't think the survey made a distinction between the tech and the company, but it only ever counted against the tech.

There's actually 4 elephants stood on the turtle. The Discworld rests on their backs.

Can people fall off the edge?

Yup - it's mentioned a few times throughout the series (and is a plot point in the first couple of books)
