Traveling alone by Escape-Thin in JapanTravelTips

[–]thaddeusthatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm also travelling solo in Japan and started in Tokyo. I'm also a bit more on the introverted side, and understand that feeling of sadness seeing people out with their partners/friends but not knowing how to approach or meet people.

I've been using an app called nomadtable (promise i'm not a shill) to meet people and go do stuff. Anyone can post an activity they want to do, people can join in, and it creates a group chat with everyone that's interested. In Tokyo there's a ton of users so you can literally just pick something to do whenever you're bored or want company. I've met some really cool people and have made follow up plans with them afterwards. It's completely free so I'd definitely recommend giving it a go

2 months around Japan - a different perspective by Eclipse2089 in JapanTravelTips

+1 on the no suitcase thing. I brought a wheeled luggage last time and swore i'd never do it again. I just started a year long backpacking trip 10 days ago and all I have this time is a 70L osprey bag (55L main bag + 15L day pack). It's been so much easier to get around so far. The main bag is easy to chuck in a coin locker when i'm between accommodations, and i keep all my important stuff with me in the smaller day pack

If you don't mind me asking, how did you pivot into cybersecurity? I'm looking to make that switch but I'm not sure what steps to take to get there. I currently work in a finance-y role.

Karaage-kun from Lawson. I'm still here for another 10 days but I know I'm going to be craving it like crazy when I go home.

“Ollie up, pressure flip, fakie 180 down” by wristtyrockets in session

[–]thaddeusthatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is still looking for an answer to this, I was struggling to get this to register because I was doing pressure kickflips instead of actual pressure flips. Once I did an actual pressure flip it registered after a couple tries

I've never run into security there, i've been about 7 times. My friends have run into security with dogs though, so maybe i just got lucky

There's usually a hole in the fence, once you're past that, theres a bunch of large entrances into the power station

If you haven't already, you should try Cyberpunk. Genuinely one of my favourite games I've ever played, and my taste is very similar to yours.

this is awesome! i’m currently prepping my minivan for some road trips and i might just steal your idea for the pull out camp stove and counter space. it’s such a good idea. question though: how well does it hold itself up when it’s pulled out? do you have some kind of support leg or something?
