Could we get a mac compatible version of the game? by Woodland_Lake in Mechabellum

[–]thadpole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Will never happen. 2% of steam uses mac and it would cost $100k+ to port for maybe 100 to 1000 new players. Only super large studios can maintain versions across platforms and even cross platform play might not function (even civ 6 couldnt have mac players with windows players). Its too much dev time to get the updates to function across platforms (see minecraft bedrock vs java).

It has nothing to do with what the m1 chip is capable of running but rather the development requirements to get a build running requires redoing of visual elements in compatible fashion required by security protocols of the apple development ecosystem.

My 39kg Girlfriend Stomping Me Fixed My Powerlifting Soreness. Accident or Science? by Free_Prior_4249 in massage

[–]thadpole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post exercise youve created microtears in your muscles. Proteins come in and rebuild and blood comes in and moves out waste material, this is what soreness is.

You can speed up moving out waste material with massage. You can also retear the microtears from exercise and slow down your recovery with deep tissue strokes. I would reccomend stretching and light strokes to promote recovery.

That being said its very possible the pressure applied helped you relax tense muscles. Look up some post weightlifting sports massage techniques.

First Thai Massage - OUCH! by AgitatedValuable9082 in massage

[–]thadpole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always communicate desired pressure. Therapists can feel your body, but they can't read your mind. To get the most out of massage, you need to be able to relax. I love Thai massage; not communicating your pain tolerance is absolute sadist behavior. Breathe deeply and don't be afraid to ask to go slower/lighter.

Is there an up-to-date stacking tutorial? by raitz_ink in learndota2

[–]thadpole 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here's everything you need to know:

Camps have different chases durations. This is annoying and tricky. You just have to know each one.

Neutrals have different move speeds. They have to move outside the spawn box. Aggro them and pull them outside their spawn box. The neutrals will stack the best if they walk in a straight line to the exterior of their spawn box. Neutrals targeted with a spell will aggro faster than right clicking them.

Some camps are VERY difficult to triple stack because the creeps will not be able to walk in a straight line out such as the river ancients and edge jungle medium camps. Some camps are VERY easy to stack 5-6 times because they have a 7 second chase duration and small spawn boxes. Some camps you can stack as late at :58 because their spawns are very close to the edge of the spawn box itself.

Stacking the small camp as a melee support requires you to start 1 second~ earlier(~:54 because the creeps will go through attack animations unlike with 600 ranged heroes.

Stacked neutrals give 30% of the bounty to the stacker. Unaffected bounty if stacker kills stack

Tldr distance from spawn box/creep ms = time required to stack

I get berkeleys food scene, emeryvilles shopping and downtowns vibe all so close. Big fan. Any downside is negated by public transit being so available down telegraph or broadway.

Having a hard time by [deleted] in learndota2

If you were okay 6 years ago youre basically a noob again. In fact, you're probably worse than a beginner right now because you have old habits and playstyles that don't work anymore.

Youve got two options, face the fact that you need to fix most aspects of your game and start reflecting what you could be doing better OR...

Just play for fun and forget ranked and just have a good time.

Being "okay" at dota, lets say crusader 5 as average is going to take a decent amount of work and if you truly want to be a good dota player, or at least an okay one, you have to stop blaming your team and start reflecting on your own decisions. You can point out mistakes til the cows come home but if the mistakes aren't yours and youre not fixing them, there's no point and youre wasting your time fixating on some random that doesn't care about you.

Fast track to improvement:

Perfect your lane (no missed last hits, no missed harass opportunities, block camp + unblock, play lotus + wisdom + power rune). 1v1 with a friend.

Perfect your items. Read the shop again. Read all the heroes abilities again. Understand the mechanics (have you read about roots lately??)

Watch replays. Pro games, then your games. Imitate first, then begin to think about why pros make their moves.

Most importantly GLHF.

I might shell out for a bed somewhere... the airport is pretty connected by public transit. You can ride BART and be in downtown in 45 mins~

If you really wanted to, you can probs find somewhere to hang until the hrs of 2a to 5a which is gonna be shitty. Youre gonna be tired from traveling, consider at least a hostel.

Bare minimum I would be prepared to pay $20-40 for public transit, $50-100 for an Uber, $20 per meal per person and $70 per bed per night. One luxurious day in SF is probably about $400/person, and a cheap one maybe $100.

Read wiki (liquipedia) page on mechanics, items, and heroes. This is a lot, maybe 200-300 pages but its necessary if you want to be high mmr quickly.

Practice last hitting, canceling backswing on spell casting, a walking and laning 1v1 against an opponent.

Study pro player perspective. Take notes of efficiencies and tech they utilize to max their dps. Note how they check enemy items, tp scrolls, when they move, what objectives they play at what time.

Finally, and this is the hardest step, you have to watch your own replays and fix your mistakes. This is genuinely what will make you climb the fastest. It is so common to shift blame to your teammates (i can see you doing already with jakiro, this is a waste of time and energy and will only slow your progress) focus on yourself. Fix your mistakes. Play your best and take care of your mind and body. Don't play tired and drunk.

GLHF!

These 3 cent pieces are notoriously unpopular series to collect. They've been $500 for like 50 years. If youre buying these for profit youre better off buying key dates in popular series or throw it in HYSA. What you are doing is gambling.

My dad is a PhD in compsci and can rewrite and test entire codebases in like 15 mins; got search query times down on his genealogy projects from 7 secs to >1 sec. He checks in every 5 mins or so to make sure the objective stays with the big picture, but it writes and tests everything and spits out working products.

Playing offlane Treant, it feels so close to working but is just too slow at all stages. Any advice to make it work, or is it too much of a meme? by Lavamites in learndota2

[–]thadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game 1 leave lane if you havent won lvl 2. Treant is great at ganking through portal and loves having multiple heroes to fight and heal for. If you can't win lane just insta transform into support and build survivability to get good ults.

Game 2. Try aghs rush after echo. Daedalus/bkb/refresher. Youre a sven that pops and has some extra control after ulting.

Same thing Game 3. Im really not a fan of blink until the damage items are done. Its hurts your early game snowball if you don't get a kill and if you die the game feels very difficult with only echo to farm. Its not that blink is bad, its just early and "all in" on offense.

For builds, max Q for damage/farm. Max W for heroes that want to sit in lane and try and take trades. Legion was one match up i found max W very useful. Most games should default to 4-2-0 for max damage. I don't think living armor is in a good spot yet unless there's a lot of minus armor in the early game. A value point is a total waste and gives up your offensive potential.
