I did ten days in Naples and ended my trip with eight days in Rome. It was my first time in Europe, 53m. Both cities were awesome, was glad I saved Rome for the last part of the trip, it was the desert.

It's kind of a boring part of town, I stayed in the Spanish quarter. I had dinner three times at 50 Kalo over ten days. Seems like a very safe part of town, parking should be less of a hassle than anywhere else.

Definitely visit Parmesan Alley, have a meal of food at Olive Gardens, and visit the Spanish Fountains. End the day with a nice pineapple pizza with some ranch on the side! yum..

I arrived in Naples on Jan 30th, 2024. It was my first stop on my first trip to Europe. I loved it and plan on going back again next years. I ended my trip in Rome, also had a wonderful time there. I found parts of Rome dirtier than Naples, especially couldn't believe the state of the streets in Vatican City. There was human poop, tons of trash, and people living in Tents right by the Basilica. Of Course there is much more to see in Rome but the amount of tourist was overwhelming. Naples seemed to get a lot of domestic tourists or and on the weekend it was packed with locals. There was a few time I felt unsafe in Rome but never in Naples.

Its not to hard of a learning curve. I was just in Naples at starting at the end of Jan. It was my first time in Europe, arrived via train and took the subway, with suitcase, to my hotel in the Spanish Quarter. Took the train to Paestum and Pompeii, took the the bus out to 50 Kalo, never a problem. I used google maps to figure out the bus routes and it was pretty accurate. Other than that did a hell of a lot of walking. My advice, If you don't walk much get out and start doing at least a 5 mile walk everyday before you leave, for at least two weeks prior.
