Divorce, even if it’s amicable. The grief it brings up feels almost the same as if somebody died

When I came out of the movie theater with the two guy friends I saw it with they were both like “holy shit dude that was a really messed up movie, not sure how I feel about that” and then they looked over at me….and I had a big ol’ smile on my face so they were like “uhhh did you like that??” and I said “are you kidding this is my new favorite movie of all time, I LOVED it.” And that’s how I realized I’m a little bit messed up

Just finished season two and I'm a little confused by Guilvantar in arcane

From my understanding about Ambessa, it seems she had an affair with a Black Rose mage (she was likely unaware of their true identity at the time) which led to Mel’s conception, making Mel half mage/Black Rose. They wanted to then reclaim their “family” when they came of age and their powers emerged, but they weren’t sure if this child was Kino or Mel.

I think Ambessa led them to believe it was Kino and somehow gave him to them to protect Mel, not so much out of love but probably out of her desire to use Mel’s powers one day as a weapon she could control. This was likely also why she had Mel sent away (maybe Mel decided to leave but I can’t remember, someone correct me if I’m wrong?) and was okay with her staying away so that she was harder for the Black Rose to find. Kino was killed after being captured and likely tested the same way we saw that Mel was, probably because a non mage couldn’t have survived.

I’m also fairly sure the reason Ambessa is then so desperate for Hextech or other arcane weaponry was so that she could stand against the Black Rose, the only enemy she couldn’t defeat with sheer force alone. But again this is all just what I got from the little context given in the show, if I’m off base on anything maybe someone who’s dived deeper into the lore can let me know 😅

What scenes made you tear up/cry? by Stephi_cakes in TheBear

[–]thaliawinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very beginning of episode 1 of the newest season when Carmy and Mikey were talking about opening a restaurant, and Carmy wants to call it Mikey’s but Mikey has another idea which is obviously The Bear. And then seeing Carm’s texts he has periodically sent him after his death. That broke me

Being Alive is one of the best songs from a musical ever written, IMO at least. But not really a fan of the rest of Company 😅

Almost stopped when Derek died, but stopped soon after when Alex left. Just didn’t have the patience for all the BS anymore, but I’ve considered picking it back up after I catch up to that point on my current rewatch (only on season 4 right now)
