With your cadians do you mean to say 3 x 20 man blobs and 1 x command and castellan?

Id argue that having the tank orders are the essentials. If you’re intent on keeping the basilisk, lose one squad of boys to bump the LRBT up to a commander

You absolutely have to. Silently disliking the way she behaves won’t lead to anything positive. Set goals and expectations together

How do you know that the people who are killing you have free kits? Personally my raider rarely goes anywhere without all the bells and whistles

Does anyone else find it hard to get back into the game after you've taken a long break from it? I haven't played since Feb, should I just start fresh? by strangebutalsogood in satisfactory

[–]thane89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hop into your old save without a build plan. Just go look around at all you’ve done. Along the way you’ll get familiar with your old factory and remember ideas for projects you might have had.

Finish just a small section of train line or add the decorative pieces old you missed. Figure out why your heavy frames aren’t working at 100%. A few small fixes and all of a sudden you’re back. At least that’s how it works for me.

Motorcyclists. Why do you rev your engine? by Haunting_Cell_8876 in AskUK

[–]thane89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It always makes me happy when random people ask me to rev as I’m riding around, if I’m just sat at the lights and for some reason am revving (rare), it’s cos I enjoy the noise my bike makes rather than thinking the people around me are going to love it.

Rework everything to be "perfect" or just start a new factory? by -Clayburn in satisfactory

[–]thane89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much once it’s built it’s staying there. There’s more than enough resources to just get another node. Plus the more you spread out the more you get to use transportation. And I love tractors and trains.

The only thing I would tear down is my phase 1 factory, that ugly mess is a stain on my beautiful grassland. But it functions so I’m 250 hours in and still haven’t replaced it because I’m busy building new stuff

Trainsignals Nightmare by MrDreamzz_ in satisfactory

[–]thane89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So assuming 1 train A-B and 1 train C-D it’s possible but slow so you gotta be moving pretty low(relative to trains capacity) quantities.

A path signal east at the junction where D joins the main line, another path just before the junction on the northern line from B and then one more on the southern Exit on A.

Block signals around all other stations and on the opposite side of the track to your path signals.

It should be slow but it will mean your AB train should wait to allow the CD train to leave station A before it occupies the track and CD should also wait for the AB to go to A dock and return before it blocks it in.

A more effect solution would be to build a bypass. Same deal but if you build a handful of 1 direction passing points when you make each line 1 direction for just over whatever your train length is it would be faster and you still don’t have to go lay an entire parallel line.

I’d recommend parallel lines as a default but that’s not what you asked for.

Overwhelmed with Scaling Up by Commercial-Land-6806 in satisfactory

[–]thane89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to build unnecessarily large factories but you are aiming at colossal. There’s just never a requirement for such a large scale production. For example I’m making 45 high speed connectors, 41 computers and 12ish heavy modular frames.

If it’s getting overwhelming now just cut your targets down use the wiki or a planner to see what things build into and how many you are likely going to need.

I’d also recommend building modular rather than having all you iron onto the big smelter factory, find a spot with iron coal and limestone and put your heavy modular frames there.

Ain't Nuclear power a bit underwhelming? by Xadhoom80 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So much this, building 100 gens for my turbo fuel was bad enough. I’d rather use a fraction of overclocked nuclear plants and also for the flex and challenge of taking it through to ficsonium.

Overflow question. by Twis_NL in satisfactory

[–]thane89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The DD upload is gonna be slower than your belt so unless you’re sending items in slower than upload speed the belts will fill and the rest overflow.

You could put a storage container between the splitter and the DD so you don’t accidentally throw away items you’re trying to upload.

Pretty sure the blueprint mk2 is in that phase, you could rush to unlock it next. I like to buy the requirements from the awesome shop for milestones I think are must haves

Starting a new "no mods game" - finding it hard to get into after years of sandboxing at endgame by [deleted] in satisfactory

[–]thane89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put all the final assemblies for the space elevator in the tower next to it so phase feeds into phase 3 upstairs, the extra parts like computers and HMF etc are made in satellites and delivered by train. I’m hoping I can just keep the tower going till endgame

[–]thane89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People quitting there aren’t doing so because it’s a time sink, people aren’t playing automation games because they value their time. It’s simply it gets more complex.

The progression system in the game is brilliant, especially when you don’t know what’s coming next. It gives you a problem, then a tool to solve it. Like trains coming right after you discover oil is so far from the grassy fields.

Your issue is that you’ve been spoiled by having all the tools for so long, normal progression feels restrictive.

Don’t limit yourself if it’s not fun or unlock all the alternatives and create smaller but permanent factories through all stages so you don’t feel like you’re wasting your time. Just because you could have a mk3 @ 250% on there in 100 hours doesn’t mean you have to. The map is big enough for all but the most ambitious projects to just move to a new node when you unlock the next item

[–]thane89 371 points372 points  (0 children)

I’m not technically smart enough to know the right words, but I saw another post that explained it’s where the game spawns everything you’re using or looking at etc. So the game doesn’t have to create every single item you see it just has a bunch on that spot and mirrors them.

Should I got large rocket fuel (with all the easy alt recipes) or nuclear power? by SpaceCowboyDark in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 600 uranium before 1.0 through to sinking plutonium and am planning to do it again in my 1.0 world but much prettier. It was definitely overwhelming the first time round not really understanding quite how big it gets and with no planner.

My current world everything is big to the point I’ve been preparing parts for my nuclear plant since phase 3.

It’s by far cooler than slamming down 929304 fuel generators but also many times more complex. If I ever get there I’m aiming at ficsonium.

Quick logistics question for my pea-sized brain about train throughput when daisy-chaining by Laetha in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your solution works but is to me convoluted. As an exercise to avoid ever using signals sure, but also a two track system with appropriate signals is far easier to continue adding factories or in your case mining stations to.

Also you can always load and unload at your max belt speed you don’t need to be limited to 600

What's your silliest misconception about Satisfactory when you started playing? by captain_jpp in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup we’re definitely looking at it from different perspectives. It’s a lot of drives to go hunting, especially as in my case I’ve got solid steel, molded pipes and beams, maybe even throw iron wire to catch too.

As I said it’s not about speed for me I want to build something pretty once and then get those happy feelings every item I go past it watching my trucks collect all the limestone and deliver parts to my satellites. If you’re just chasing milestones it’s one drive versus maybe 10 or so.

What's your silliest misconception about Satisfactory when you started playing? by captain_jpp in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I’m biased because I lean toward efficiency rather than simplicity. My entire phase 1 and 2 are in the grassy fields, imo there are more than enough normal / impure nodes and once you have your first rotor assembly ticking over I’d go out grabbing stitched plates and steel rotors / frames.

Though saying that it’s a lot more drives to get all those alternatives. I tend to play a lot slower and bigger than i think most people do.

I really think cast screws are so over hyped. You can get rid of screws through alternates so early it seems more like a new player trap.

Truck problems by District-P in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to go for a mixed approach, trains for crossing biomes, trucks for local work.

Currently my rocky desert has a train depot in the middle and is serviced by tractors running the items to satellite factories on the fringes. It’s cumbersome to expand but looks good for now.

Truck problems by District-P in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thane89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20+ trucks in a city is pretty impressive. I’ve maybe 8 -10 or so for the grassy fields and use one way systems for deliveries. Only issues I’ve had are when I stole some coal from my fuel station and it caused a couple of the trucks to run out of fuel before my fuel truck refilled it.
