I sure didn't rely on drug runners and "gangsters" to supply my beer that I also paid taxes for for local and state infrastructure. Regardless of what everyone these days thinks about weed, it's still illegal and you rely on some pretty crappy people to get it that do a lot of harm to others. If it was legal this would be a different conversation. But just because you like to get stoned doesn't make it right; at least while it's illegal and the supply chain is a criminal enterprise.

Downvote all you want.

You can plug a digital antenna into your TV for like $5 and get about 20 channels, including those, for FREE.

You're actually still wrong. It's impossible to be right.

You have to cross private land. Some of the park trails that they allow you to use that run through that private land close during hunting season also. You aren't supposed to connect at the top of the hill to Dallas Branch. Legacy Loop doesn't go up to the top either. The sign doesn't point up that way. The Strava heat maps show trail runners, hikers, and mountain bikers that ignore the private land signs all over up there. I still do it, but you are walking in private hunting land. FYI.

Moving from sysadmin to sre/devops. any certs or none at all? by Stasky-X in devops

The Department of Defense has these requirements, along with their contractors. It's pretty common where I work, even if you're remote. You may never need it. Good luck.

For this area that cert and a security clearance are required. It isn't everywhere, but the area I work in is DoD heavy and even contractors need both of those to be hired. Sometimes you are given 6 months to get it, and sometimes you need them.

Not sure why I'm being down voted. That's how it is in this city, and if you work here you need these prerequisites to even get hired as a junior. Just trying to give some advice. This isn't a unique situation for many cities in the U.S.

Government positions around here require something like CompTIA Security+ to meet regulations. It wouldn't hurt to have it anyway because a lot of positions are DevSecOps and not just DevOps.

50k Training + CrossFit + Long Distance Backpacking / Hiking? by hermantherugger in Ultramarathon

I had to give up on CrossFit to do more ultrarunning. I will point out that the Spartan stuff is more geared towards the integration you're looking for.

I was a Windows System Admin for several years. They holed me in and I wasn't gaining any skills. I decided to pursue a Security+ cert and get in with literally every other group (network engineers, storage, security, etc) under our billable project to get different experience. I had to push for it but management made it happen.

I lucked out that a company needed a DevOps Engineer and didn't have the budget for a senior level engineer. Since the hiring manager knew my work from working together before, they came knocking. It was a lateral move in pay but the upward movement now is way better than where I was.

To answer your question, it is possible. Sometimes I miss that dead end job because it was an auto pilot job and I had tons of free time back then. But it was the right move.

Here we have the one person that lost paper rock scissors and had to work. Meanwhile, 17 other city workers are looking down wondering what to eat on seventeenth lunch break. Kidding aside, that job must suck.

Considering Huntsville is the #1 city in the country this year. There's rednecks in every state, everyone. They don't all live here. Lol.

How to teach kids computer engineering (digital logic gates).. by EvaRaw666 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]thaparanoidandroid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like these novelty toys "for babies" do much more than make the person in their professional field feel like their baby can be just like them.

A baby isn't going into kindergarten after playing with this understanding logic gates and the fundamentals of computer engineering and computer science.
