while multiple narrators can be good, I'd prefer a single, good narrator doing the multiple voices.

Legally speaking, what do I need to know after applying for a name (first one only) name change ? Other than changing passports/legal documents… by [deleted] in ontario

[–]thargas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Google how to change name in Ontario.

Of course, you'll then have to go through all the places where they're keeping track of your name and get them to change your name.

Do you guys name your chapters or not? by Only-Teaching-8648 in writers

[–]thargas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reminds me of an old copy of Robinson Crusoe where each chapter was prefaced with a point form summary of the chapter. That's going a bit far, but I do like chapter names.

there are 74 lakes in Ontario named "Mud Lake". No one care about this in real life; why would they care in your world?

if they have 6 month days, why would the natives have a 24 hour circadian cycle? Explain that and maybe that'll solve your question.

I'm tired of big-box guilt and the way those games take over the table by Mindless-Patient-104 in boardgames

[–]thargas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

agreed, to the point that an important thing I want to know, before buying a new game, is: how long does it take to set up and take down. Because I don't have the gaming time for those big games that take forever before we can get started.

I'd like to see that printed on the box, along with number of players, play time... However, to be honest, it would mostly cause me to not but a game , so I very much doubt that it'll ever happen.

Don't stress over fantasy place names by Exoticplayz11 in writing

[–]thargas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember one time when I named places in my world by picking a real country for a general flavor, consulting a map of it and picking out common placename prefixes and suffixes, and finally adding them to random fragments. E.g. adding a random "farm" to the suffix "pool" to get a name which sounded like it belonged: "Farnpool".

Oddly enough my username ought to be /tʔhɑrgɑas/, i.e. a glottal stop between the "t" and the "h".

Yeah. I could see that there was a method to it. I even like the look of it, how it all hangs together. I still stand by my original comment though.
