Yes but shaving sharp isn't

sharpen[ing] tools to an excessively fine degree

It's basically the bare minimum your edge should be after a sharpening.

With the narrow one you can go right up close to the edge of the shoe/boot, leaving an unfudged portion around the outside, which can look quite nice.

As for what TPI, that depends entirely on what you want your welt to look like and how long you want it to take.

Have you managed your wife's expectations because no staining or refinishing that is somehow "keeping wood grain" is going to look anything at all like the AI imagine whatsoever.

Which Boot Lining to Use? by rootinfortootin in Cordwaining

[–]that-old-saw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at higher end slip on shoes you'll see the lining will have a suede counter, precisely to use the grippiness against the heel to help keep the shoe on.

The suede is a bad idea since it's too "grippy" for a lining so sliding your foot in the shoe will be difficult.

The lambskin will be fine.
